I keep getting an error message when trying to test my item number to see if my listings are mobile friendly.
I've tried on 3 different browsers & one 2 browsers it stops at 60% & on another browser it says to check item ID.

Me too, today. When it hangs, click the x and start over, when you get the error message, do it again, and again if you have too. It seems especially buggy today, but it worked for me if I just repeated.
On second thought I may be talking about something else; the listing mobile checker.
