lost package?

I had a large sale last week ($150+) sent by priority mail that shows delivered on tracking. The buyer says she never received it.  I'm not sure what my responsibility is for this -- I mailed it and it arrived.  It might be true that she doesn't have it, but it might also be a scam to try to get me to refund.  Now the buyer has communicated with me again and I'm supposed to respond again.  Do I just repeat again that it shows delivered? Do I say that it is out of my hands?  Or what is the best option?  I don't want the red donut, but I really don't want to refund money on items that USPS says were delivered.  What should I do?

Re: lost package?

Wait and see if buyer opens "did not receive item" case....enter tracking# proving it was delivered.   Customer will probably be unhappy and leave negative feedback.   Unfortunately, not every transaction goes smoothly.

Good luck with you...

If USPS says it's delivered you are in the clear.

Re: lost package?

Look on your Sold page and see the Delivered Item. Now tell her that you know it's been delivered. She can see it on her side.  I usually ask them if a family member, friend or neighbor might have it.  The last time it happened they told me to disregard...the DOG had it!  With the delivery confirmation, ebay will back you up and IF there's a negative FB, they will remove it.  Congrats! You're a seasoned seller on ebay!

Re: lost package?

In addition to the family, etc may have it...........you might suggest that, since USPS has GPS info on every package delivered, they check with the PO to see if it might have been delivered to the wrong address........sometimes USPS can get the package back under that circumstance.......

Re: lost package?

Tell her to go to the PO with her claim of not delivered and have them check the GPS location of where it was dropped off.   This will determine exactly where it was delivered.

It could be a misdelivery, a porch pirate or she's trying to scam you.   If the later she may drop all charges when she finds out the PO now uses GPS with the tracking.

Re: lost package?

...it happened to me couple times...

...this is how I responded to my buyer...

"Hi there,

According to USPS Tracking System, your package with tracking number (enter your tracking number) was delivered in your front door, porch (or in mailbox- regarding to USPS) at (specific time as hour, day, and date...).

Please double-check with your family members to locate your package. You might need to directly contact your daily Mail Carrier to obtain the information of whereabouts the delivery time was taken. USPS has an improved scanner GPS system with camera that would show the footage of delivery, per your request they will provide it.

I hope that I could go further and beyond but I can't since I am not your Mailman (or Mail Lady) nor I was present at the time of delivering. In worst case scenario, you can contact your local authority Law Enforcement if you think you were a victim of grand-theft.

Your understanding is this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Your seller

...repeating this message over and over...

...if buyer filed an "Item Not Received" case, make sure you provide the package tracking number and this message for eBay to review...

...you will be fine...don't worry...

Did the tracking tell where it was delivered to? Like "in/At mail box"; "front porch", etc.... front porch = possible porch pirate swipe?  Idk.

But for $3.20 and to save myself from any headaches like you're dealing with right now...

Re: lost package?

Please keep in mind that Delivered and received are not the same. Your responsibility is to deliver to the address provided and you have no way of making sure that your buyer receives the item.

I would contact USPS and ask for written confirmation that item was delivered to your buyers address.

I would message buyer and advise them that I have contacted USPS and are awaiting their response and on receipt you will forward this on to her. if you have a copy of label that you used to send her item then forward this to her and ask her to check the address details and if there are any discrepancies then she should advise.

I would ask her to check with other members of family and to speed things up she could go her local USPS

delivery office with details of her package and they may be able to provide her with the required information which will be much quicker than their response to me.

Your responsibility ends when item is delivered and if she still insists that item is not received then you must ask her to open INR case and then on the case itself upload the tracking number and in comments show date and time that item was delivered and for eBay to view messages if you had sent her copy of your postage label.

eBay should close the case without a refund to buyer and any feedback left will be removed but you need to request this.

Good luck and try not to worry as you appear to be in good shape.

Re: lost package?

She has now opened 13 cases against me and I've uploaded tracking information for each one.  My question is should I call ebay and have them close these in my favor? Or will they just automatically do that? Suggestions?

Re: lost package?

Thirteen cases?

So she made thirteen separate purchases and is claiming none were delivered?

Did you combine shipping and this is 13 different items from 13 different listings that were all packaged in the same box?

Re: lost package?

I combined shipping for all 13 items.  So it was 13 different listings, but they were all combined into one package.  She is claiming that none of the items arrived (they were all in the same package).  One strange side note is that she did not ask for combined shipping (I would normally either combine before the purchase or give a refund following the purchase).  But when I went to do the shipping, ebay had already combined them into one order for me.  I figured I would do a refund after they arrived.  Some people wait until the package arrives to mention combined shipping but most people ask before they buy. So that is a little bit weird, in my opinion.

The above situation has happened to me numerous times.  All packages were found by the USPS and delivered to me.  They have a lot of alternate post people right now and things go astray...
