losing my cool over holiday listing

Do you all crank up the listing hard leading up to the holidays or is it business as usual?

I have been so burned by covid that now that I'm starting to come back I am freaking out about getting as much listed as possible. Sometimes it's hard. I got up early yesterday and instead of packing mail (pretty much mindless) I tried to list but I had brain fog and caught myself making many mistakes. Gradually felt better. Spent all weekend listing, lots of Ebay auctions. My inventory here and on AZ are up, sales are pretty good but I feel like it's crunch time EVEN THOUGH I don't consider most of my stuff (used books and media) to be gift quality. But who knows what someone may want to give as a gift? I really need to try to figure out what stuff is more likely to sell and list that. Finding that tough though.

Can't sell it if it is not listed 😁

I have a few box's of Items I need to get listed this coming weekend, did some this past weekend but it was like I could not get fully into it, maybe the Q4 updates burned me out a little?

Re: losing my cool over holiday listing

I'm not sure if you mean you are recovering from Covid, but regardless, stressing out over listing isn't good for your health.  From past threads I've read you are not dependent on the money, so list when you feel like it, ship when you need to and try to relax.  It doesn't have to be crunch time unless you choose to put that pressure on yourself.

Don't stress out.  Bad for your health.  Do as much as you can but take lots of breaks.  I take lots of pills (the vitamin type)

Re: losing my cool over holiday listing

That's my issue -- so frustrated with eBay totally messing up the categories in which I list.  I just keep wondering if it's worth everything I put into listing & can't seem to get motivated.  I used to really enjoy listing, even if the time spent/$ return ratio was not in my favor; however, with the mess they've created I just don't know what to do!

@keziak

Don't stress out hun take a breather! Just like I did when I read your title to your post. I started to sing " 🎶I lose my cool when she steps in the room..( Caribbean Queen)

I really wish you would list some good reference books like costume jewelry, 1940s jewelry,  bakelite, etc. Always on the lookout for these and I have you saved as a seller to check.

     Breathe and sing!

I know exactly how you feel but best we can do is dig in and do the best we can. Yes it is upsetting and makes it harder to concentrate but like others have said take breaks and don't stress 😁

I used to get books on those topics from my library commission (ex-library books). I haven't seen anything along those lines for a while!

Re: losing my cool over holiday listing

Yes on some levels but also I use my business income to invest and give to charity. I was sad to not be able to do that for many months due to covid-related loss of inventory sources and spending too much money buying stuff up front and not keeping up with listing it.

I suppose w hen I look back I'll ask myself why I didn't just spend more time in the garden!

Sorry about the emotion "me me me" post.

Re: losing my cool over holiday listing

My sales here and on A>Z are also up a little, thankfully, after the recent disastrous train wreck for about 3 weeks forced on us by eBay.

But I'm also looking at a backlog of listing that is now taking much longer to do than before (thanks, eBay Q4 "Update"!).  After my photos are processed, for example, it used to take me only a minute or so to fully list a DVD or collectibles by using Sell Similar. Now with all the unnecessary category and Item Specifics requirements, it takes an average of 3-4 times linger for each listing.

The good news is that this time of year is always a crunch time for listing because of the holidays, and I am mentally prepared for it.

Hang in there, gear up, and Happy Holidays!

Cheers, Duffy

Re: losing my cool over holiday listing

You put a lot of pressure on yourself to make this venture succeed.  Most type A's do.  Perhaps to justify the time and resources comittment?

Holidays are coming.  Focus on your Family.  Pick it up again in 2022.

Re: losing my cool over holiday listing

I don't do anything different.

If I get one new item listed this month, fine, if I don't fine.

Have a great day.
