Although the number does seem high, they have made offers like this before.

When eBay Canada stopped offering dual currency listings (US and Canadian dollars) a few years ago, they give sellers on dotCA 50, 000 listings each for I think three months to encourage us to stay on our home country site, rather than moving to dotCOM which had more visitors.

FWIW, that encouragment continues in a different form.

Sellers can list on their home site (like here on dotCOM) and also, at no extra charge, get the same number of FREE listings on dotCA.

So that 50,000 free could be 100,000 free listings.

There are quirks.

You have to list in Canadian dollars on dotCA.

You have to use Flat Rate shipping, because the Canadian site defaults to Canada Post.

But hey, Free Listings!

Supposed to be good for ALL eBay store owners who have received the invitation. I just listed nearly 1000 items this afternoon (I have a Premium store), and I'll be listing more for the rest of March and all of April.

What can go wrong you ask? Just how long will it take to end all those listings before the GTC date rolls around. I sure can't afford to add 2,000 or so new items and have them roll over.

very good point! Likely one ebay knows full well many may not think about, that's ebay laughing in the background.

i just got it today as well, its real, BUT i have a premium store i pay $60 a month for(and get some free shipping supplies in return) in order to get 1000 free listings.

didn't i just get devalued?
