latest promotion- 25% off fvf on 100 auctions with "allow offers option"

Hi sellers-  I just received the promotion that discounts fvf by 25% on up to 100 auction listings  if the "allows offer option" is included. When I create an auctions listing,  I do not show "allows offer" option on the listing.  Is this new? How do I add such an option ?  Thanks

On the section where you enter the price, just a bit below there is a small link that says show more (or something to that effect). Click it and it will expand an area that will give you the option to allow offers if you tick the box.

I don't see that option anywhere. I activated the 25% promo. Are some sellers not eligible?

I got the offer also and couldn't find the option to do a "best offer" on an auction listing either. I'm not a new seller (been selling about 10 years) and I know Ebay was doing a Beta test on this feature, but I don't think it;s been rolled out to all sellers yet.

Have a great day 🙂

Yeah, I've been on here for almost 20 years, so not even new. Nice of them to have a great promo not everyone can use. I will keep looking though. Thanks for the answer buyer-seller-1234.

I tried activate from My Ebay - only got the spinning wheel of death.

Why would a seller want to lower a starting price on an auction and sell at that price when there maybe watchers just waiting to bid at the last moment and getting the item at the original starting price. I'd be po'd if I was a buyer to see it sell after waiting for days.

But maybe this offer on an auction just lowers the starting price?

The way to access the "best offer" option on auctions is to use the Quick version of the listing form, then at the bottom of the page choose to show more options.    Apparently eBay has completed their preliminary experiment and it's now available on the Quick form.  I wonder if it's possible to  make an offer higher than the opening bid,  which could still lead to a lower selling price than if the auction ran full time. This version of the Quick form also allows choices in listing duration.

Still doesn't activate for me.

Another interesting thing on this promotion is the idea of allowing this offer option on existing auctions that are already running. So revise would have to bring up the original page but with the new option added.

You're probably not on one of the Quick versions of the listing form.

If I wanted to add best offer, I would list fixed price.

BO has no place on an auction.

I also received this offer today.

So - to make things simple let's say I list something for $10.00

If a buyer makes an offer that is a 10% discount that means that the item would sell for $9.00.  I lose a dollar.

On a 9.00 sale I pay eBay ninety cents.  25% of that is 22.50 cents.

So I lose $1.00 up front, and eBay gives me back 22.50 cents.

Just saying - or can someone explain it to me differently to where I will be making money?

I suppose you could set it up with an asking price of $11, then if you accept an offer of $10.00 you'd pay 25 cents less for the FVF.

I don't understand why 90% of the people who use auctions even bother.

I agree. Stupidest idea they've ever had  (so far anyway)

I seem to recall when best offer on auctions first appeared that an ebay rep posted that it was a glitch and would be corrected soon.  Now it is an official promo...

Makes me look closely at all "glitches" to see how soon they become new features.
