long story short i use the custom folders for different people so that they don't get misplaced in the "archive" as i constantly archive old messages that i have already replied to so i only see the messages that are new / relevant however occasionally i will need to follow up with people about things IE customer asking questions about the model, pricing ...etc in which case i place them in a custom folder so i don't accidentally archive it into oblivion trying to remember customers user names is next to impossible when you deal with a lot of customers on the daily ignore the titles i made them based on the context of the message from customers i didn't know it was so difficult to remove them and thought they were easily manipulated to rename delete ...etc

Yep when you create a folder in messages it’s there to stay apparently, no delete no changing the title.
Plus depending on the age of messages kept there they don’t stay forever, they eventually are deleted by eBay.

That's an oversight that was pointed out to eBay back on, like, Day 2 of their rollout of the new messaging interface. Someone assigned to code the maintenance of user-defined folders wrote a creation algorithm, but never finished the branches for editing or deletion, leaving us with the incomplete solution we have today.

Oooh, that's another good point. Best to keep track of the copies of each message that are sent to the email address you have associated with your eBay account.

Suggest everyone use the ? at the bottom right of the message page to ask for changes they want/need......

Just a thought here. eBay agents use member messages for many things, including case resolution. If a member has a ton of folders and thousands of emails, it can be time consuming for agents to identify messages that are related to a particular issue. By having a "default" set of folders, it's much easier to assist all parties involved. Just a hunch on my part, though.
I personally use my Gmail acct to keep things tidy.
Happy selling today everyone!

ah another instance of if it's working perfectly lets "fix it" so it doesn't do that any more
