how can i protect myself here?

I have a buyer who bought two items, one navy one white in a combined purchase. I know 100% that I sent them both items as I don't sell a lot of volume and specifically remember filling this order. I only sent it two days ago. and postage label reflects the weight of two items. the buy filed an inr saying they didn't receive the white. they are either mistaken or lying. his account is brand new and opened the day he bought from me. what can I do to protect myself here? or is this an automatic loss and a loophole that buyers can easily use to scam sellers?

Add the tracking # to the item not received and get it closed

just tell him to return and refund, there is no way to protect yourself from all scams on Ebay.

That's what I was going to suggest, ask the buyer to return the navy item and you will refund them both. You can't prove you sent both items although everyone here knows that you really did. Yes this is a scam but it happens with online shopping. I hope you didn't lose a lot of money on this. Best of luck and please post an update....

Actually the buyer filed the wrong case, he should have filed a snad..the op should win the case by providing the tracking to prove delivery.

FYI, this is a INAD case; not an INR. Respond to the case by uploading the tracking, case will close in your favor. Put the buyer on your BBL.

You will run into a few, flaky buyers once in awhile. Like I mentioned, block them.

I have been a self-employed contractor for 55 years, a retailer for 27+ and an e-Bayer for almost 6 years. You can't! It is part of the game, as has been stated, of online sales. I have had and currently have one that is defrauding me. Fortunately, it has probably only been 12 out of approx. 1300; it still, though, bothers me. If the frustration ever exceeds the profit, I will do as Margaret Mitchell stated in her only novel and be "Gone With The Wind."

You can only deal with one thing at a time.  First deal with the INR that you have in front of you.  Yes your buyer made a mistake in the type of claim they filed, but there is nothing you can do about that.  So deal with what you have in front of you which is the INR.

If the online tracking shows that the item was delivered, you need to CALL Ebay and get the claim closed in your favor.  This is about the only real protection sellers have on Ebay.  When you call DO NOT bring up that the buyer has said they didn't get both items they ordered.  Don't muddy the waters.  Just stick to the problem you have in front of you.  And that is the INR.  So get that thing closed.

If your buyer then files an INAD, come on back and tell us and we will help you through that too.  But if you get lucky, they will just go away.

If they filed an INR and you have tracking showing the package was delivered, upload the tracking number to the case, then call CS and have the case closed in your favor since tracking shows it was delivered.

Have a great day.

When you ship more than one item in the same package  to one buyer  you must attach the tracking number  to all items being sent  . In this way  all items will get a delivery scan . Without using tracking then it's just your word against the buyers . Not sure if anything can be done to help you at this late date if you didn't  use tracking . Tulips

A similar thing happened to me.

Buyer bought a green cap and claims she received a yellow one. I know i sent her a green cap. Also, my inventory reflects it.

Customers often mistake the neon green and neon yellow colors.

If she files a "not as described" complaint i'll lose. So i just sent her another cap and took the loss. It's part of doing business.
