as if we needed more to worry about. that means if we end gtc listings we must remember to change the pre-filled handling time . i am seeing the end of the ebay tunnel soon, this is getting to be too much.

It's not a problem with me at all. Always had a one day handling time.

I totally agree, this is too much. I do 3 day shipping and NEVER have I had a complaint. My business is European Decor and my customers are not of the “Amazon” mentality of one day shipping. I will never be able to remember to always switch back to 3 day on listings. I have been doing this 25 years and I resent someone telling me how to run my business. I agree, this has all become too much.
When they replace Wenig I would hope they hire someone who concentrated on HELPING the sellers.

No that hard to meet I always shipped within one business day often same day even when it was not a good seller measurement thingy. I used to sell a ton more than I have since 2014.
It seems eBays competitors offer same day shipping or at least 1 day. Gotta' keep up with the competition if you want to stay in the game. Only sold for 41 years and this applies today & it did way back then. Detroits Big 3 auto giants and Sears Roebuck didn't follow the rule very well and Toyota or Wal-Mart market position will be less than 1 - competition is forever shooting at them.
Good Luck

My daughter (age 50) used to only buy on eBay & has that I want it now mentality. Today she only buys stuff on the River w/free ship. She luv to shop & does. Plus our graddaughter a Senior at TCU follow in her Mom footsteps. of course antiques stuff is a niche market andprobably more attunted to being sold on a diff venue.

we actually do meet the one day requirement but list 2 days so we have some wiggle room. Its not so much what the new requirement is, it is that it is another requirement, less freedom in how we list in a time when many of our choices as sellers have been taken away ,

I try to do that as well, but have chosen to have "not 1 day" handling to cover weather, internet, power, health delays as well as being on the East coast, many time zones away from San Jose, any sale up to 2:59 AM "my time" would require "same day" shipping "my time". I may have something else to do when I get up in the AM rather than try to get something packaged and mailed that day.
Hopefully this will only be for as stated "new listings", and will not default to "1 day" for my GTC listing renewals. Hope they are treated as "existing" listings.
I should be OK with un-ticking the default handling time box on new listings.

That's not the point! The point is they keep trying to micromanage everyone's business. If I wanted to do that, I already would have. I don't need 'big brother' guiding me along!

And along in the future (not right away) if you forget to change the handling time before it sells, and fail to meet the "1 day", you can then expect a non removable ding on shipping metrics.

I did the 1 day thing for a while, and stopped it the day they cut my discount in half. I gave up top rated + because I knew they'd just keep making it harder and harder to achieve, and I was right. Changing everything to 2-day handling was the best thing I ever did for my stress level, and I didn't see a drop in sales. No more freaking out when the bulk shipping errors out Monday afternoon after I already paid for 30 labels. No more driving to the post office when I'm sick with the flu, or in a snowstorm. No more worrying that the post office skipped a scan. No more driving to the next town over to print labels when my power is out. No more driving to the city post office that closes an hour later. Now I can actually take a day off and not worry about shipping the huge item that sold at 2:50 AM. I also need to dedicate full days to actually buying items to sell. So because I still get most items out the next day, or even same day, I'm being punished for it? I can only hope the 3rd party listing service I use will keep 2 days as a default. The day I'm actually forced to ship in 1 day (which can be as little as 14 hours), I'm packing it up.

I am confused as to what we are talking about. The thread is built on an email I didn't receive so I can't know what you guys are referring to. What is the requirement. 1-day shipping will be required? I have three day handling because I spend two days a week shopping and can't ship everyday the hundreds of items I sell a week I need to shop for and take pictures of and list. Also 2000 pieces of clothing isn't easy to find one or two at a time so I do it all on certain days to make it worth the need to go through the inventory to extract the sold clothing. Someone please explain the email. It sounds like if an item is listed it will have 1-day handling automatically but you can change that after the fact. I only use sell similar to list my items would that keep that from happening. Why didn't I get this Email? Please explain
