I sold the ring on Ebay for $750 and I shipped it immediately. I did not understand the limitations on Ebay about the signer being needed for the amount of $750 or more. The buyer almost instantly made a claim that he had not received the ring and showed his intentions to try and get a refund. I then looked up his record and realized that I was being scammed. I have the packing label as well as the receipt from USPS that shows that the package was delivered. I googled the address and name on the shipping label and found a criminal background of the purchaser of the item which is long and extensive. Most of this is theft, breaking and entering, and grand theft auto. I know i may lose my money now but it is more about making sure that this does not happen to someone else. I know the States Attorney General and have sent her all the information in the case and she is seeing what she can do for me in the consumer claims division. I know she will do all she can for me. Is there anything else that I can do?

You lose, sorry.

I feel for you OP. Yes the limit on protection without signature confirmation is $750. All sellers should know this. I'm not sure what ebay can do (or will do) for you.
You would think that since you have delivery confirmation (not signature) ebay should at least cover you for $749.99 and you just lose out on the funds beyond that. Because if you DID sell the item for $749.99 your deliver confirmation will be enough for ebay to cover you for seller protection.
Just follow thru with the cops and stuff. Sorry man.

eBay will likely force you to refund. Call CS and insist to talk to Trust & Safety and present your evidence. I don't think it will have much effect, but worth a try.
You will have to file mail fraud with the Post office and file a stolen property report with the local police and then file in small claims court to get your money or item back.

I would suggest that you file a report directly with all appropriate law enforcement agencies.

Unfortunately it was $750 on the nose, not $749.99 (which arguably would have been defensible as an Item Not Received dispute that did not require Signature Confirmation).
I see the problem buyer has also made multiple other bids or purchases in jewelry and laptop listings, possibly with similar disputes filed on those too, depending on how those sellers set up their shipments.

OP.sorry this happened to you. I see you only have 11 feedback as a seller. That was a very expensive ring you were selling. I wish you had come to this Board if you did not understand about the requirements for items $750.00 and over.
It is generally suggested that you wait until you know policy and how everything works before selling expensive items. Some hope new sellers will make mistakes that they can take advantage of, sadly. It is said to not sell anything where the value exceeds the amount of feedback you have. With only 11 feedback as a seller, you were very far from that.
if you sell anything and you have questions, ask them before listing. You can post on this Board or search for past discussion on your issue.
Good Luck when you call Trust and Safety. And I hope you will come back here to post what happens.

If OP has to call CS about this they should ask them to look at the buyer's claim history. It's worth mentioning if it could help their case.

Respond to the dispute that the PO shows the item delivered and agree to a refund WHEN YOU GET THE ITEM BACK IN SAME CONDITION. Odds are he wont send it back and the PO delivery confirmation may be enough to close the dispute.

Don't do anything more yet, including calling eBay CS or responding to the buyer. Technically, he hasn't opened a Return Request. It's at that point you need to make sure you respond.
In the meantime... If you go to the USPS website and track the package, look at the details. What does it say about delivery? Left with an individual? Delivered? Left on porch? What?
Did you ship this package insured? If so, how much insurance was on the package?
What were the terms of the sale? Do you have a Return Policy? If so, what is it?
Let us know the answers to the above, and we can try and proceed from there...

Thanks for all the help...I will respond to CS with the evidence that I have.....right now I want to ensure that this guy goes down and does not do it to anyone else....My sister is the personal assistant to the Attorney General and has been for 30 years. I have sent her all the information and she is processing the best plan of action right now....Now I may lose my money but I will not stop till this guy pays for this. Every now and then you mess with the wrong person and I am him.
