free returns

I recently started offering free returns.  The reason is I have  several cases where buyers  are demanding partial refunds or else they'll give bad feedback.  Ebay says thats ok.  I understand ebay will stand by its sellers and remove bad feedback if I offer free returns.    My current problem,  although I am clear on size of what Im selling, I go as far as a picture of me measuring the item, they ask for returns saying they don't fit.  That shows me that the buyer just changed their mind...   Honestly I am getting back at least 1/3 of what I sell.    Any input, ideas.  Ebay giving the buyers 30 days to decide to return and 15 more to send the item back puts us all in the position of when can we actually spend our profits.    Help!  Im actually getting ready to leave ebay, I already put a ton of stuff in my garage to sell at a yard sale.

free returns

You are incorrect….eBay will NOT remove negative or neutral feedback if the seller offers free returns.

eBay won’t remove the negatives I recently received on my other selling accounts despite how preposterous they are. This is the new normal I suppose.

Even despite the change on removing feedbacks, it is still worth having free returns just because if someone tries to get a partial refund, you can reply that you have free returns if they're not satisfied with the item.  If they have to pay for the return shipping they're more likely to give a negative.

free returns

Just so you know, I checked all your listings and none have "free returns".   Giving customers "free returns" just encourages them to return the item for any reason (and you get stuck paying the postage).

If customer opens "does not fit" return (customer will have to pay postage).   EBAY does NOT hold seller responsible for "does not fit".    So, there is no need for you to offer "free returns".

Never heard of EBAY removing all "negative feedback" if you offer "free returns".   EBAY has a new policy which will help your feedback rating percentage.   If customer does NOT leave feedback, EBAY will automatically leave you positive feedback.   EBAY will NOT get rid of negative feedback but if you get more positive feedback, your feedback percentage will go up.

"I understand ebay will stand by its sellers and remove bad feedback if I offer free returns."

Ebay recently announced they are no longer removing feedback if you have free returns.

Ebay allows buyers to return items and gives them 30 days to do so. You are considered a business. Things happen beyond our control as sellers. If a buyer has a problem you are expected to accept the return regardless if the item fits or not even if you are clear on size.

If you are looking just to get rid of stuff then I say sell locally however don't expect market value at a yard sale but folks looking for bargain deals. Honestly 1/3 returns is very high and I would say yes you may want to consider this. Returns should be under 2%. That's how far off you are when it comes to making a profit.
