Have you contacted the seller and tried to work something out? Sometimes that's the best thing to do. I personally do not like to leave bad feedback either as a buyer. Communication is the key and perhaps you can turn that negative into a positive. Most sellers (good ones) will go the distance to make their customers happy. Try that before you leave the feedback. Just a suggestion.
Good luck & Happy Holidays

No, you do NOT need to EVER leave feedback...but you should if you determine 'this is a habit' of this seller and NOT a fluke...or as suggested; contact seller first!

Leaving + or - feedback is optional for either a buyer or seller.

It's totally your choice.
Perhaps you could tell us what happened and we can better give you our opinions.

I wouldn't. Everyone can read it including sellers. Always try to work with the seller and try to turn things around. And it is the holidays. Why ruin someone's account for a mistake on a seller. Contact the seller to see what can be done first. You don't have to leave any feedback.

Everyone should get what they deserve in life, but it is not mandatory that they do.

thanks for answering. i ordered an item, was sent a very different item (to which i am allergic) and contacted the seller to see what i should do. i heard nothing, contacted the seller again, and again, with no response. i did check this seller's feedback (after i'd received the wrong item--i have never checked before because in the 12 years i have been a member, i have never had a bad experience) and this seems to have happened before. buyers have left negative reviews for this seller.

Certainly, wait until after you make a Not as Described Claim against the seller..........see how he handles the problem

I agree with @dhbookds .
File a NAD (no as described) case/return and see how the seller handles it.
If you need additional help or advice, don't hesitate to come back here.
Then after all is said and done, you can think about what feedback you want to leave this seller.
Good luck!

good point, thanks. i have contacted the seller three times, but have gotten no response. i do not want to ruin the seller's holidays, but their behavior hasn't exactly made my holidays happy!

oh, thanks. great idea. i will do that.

thank you so much!

You do not have to. But as a buyer OR seller you have the option. Let it go for a day or two, then really think about the incident again, and then decide if you feel it deserves being left. If so, leave it.
Now if you had a bad seller experience, you as the seller, unfortunately you can't leave a negative because ebay doesn't want all forms of honest seller feedback able to be left for buyers. But you can leave a comment with your side of what occurred, keep it factual and non-emotional.

"i have contacted the seller three times, but have gotten no response. i do not want to ruin the seller's holidays..."
Unresponsive sellers who sent you the wrong item shouldn't get a pass just because it's the holidays.
