@ukra6794

No you do not have to.  Feedback is a voluntary policy, it isn't mandatory at all.  You do what is best for you.

I am sorry you had a bad experience.  Simply go and file for a return as the item is not as described.  There is no need for you to be out your money nor do you have to work so hard to communicate with a seller that clearly isn't giving you the time of day.  I hope you know that most of us are not like that.

Go and take a look at your purchase history. You can find it on the top right of any Ebay page. Hover over the words My Ebay. A menu will appear, click on Purchase history. Find the transaction. Look to the right there is likely to be a large blue box you can click on that says Return This Item.

OR

eBay Help page
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/reporting-item-didnt-receive?id=4042
1. Go to Purchase history.
2. Select More actions beside your item and then Return this Item.
3. Now you select the reason you are requesting the return for refund.
4. You have the option of adding a message to the seller.
5. Select Send request.

Re: feedback

thank you very much!

i do indeed know that you are 99.9% great sellers! i have been an ebay buyer for 12 years. this is my first disappointment.  i will follow your very easy to use instructions for returning this item which was not as described.

thank you again!

Re: feedback

Feedback has always been like a participation trophy showing that your transaction went off without a hitch, and when problems do happen - negatives happen, so do revenge negatives.

Don't be afraid to post a negative review if it warrants it, because sometimes if you are buying/seller something expensive do not be afraid to look up the history of feedback and see if there is something suspicious going on because fraud happens frequently on ebay, and sometimes leaving a negative feedback even at the risk of getting a negative yourself can mean the difference of protecting yourself from a potential scammer and more importantly a major headache.

Attention OP -  @ukra6794

Please disregard the comment about receiving negative feedback yourself, as a buyer you can NOT receive anything but positive FB. If a seller ever leaves a positive green dot with a negative comment (some do this to get around the restriction on buyer negatives) you contact eBay and that comment is removed and you keep the green dot, the seller gets a defect.

Re: feedback

You are not only covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days after delivery but also for 180 days from payment by Paypal, if you used that.

And if you paid directly with a CREDIT card, you can call the customer service number on the card or on your monthly invoice about a chargeback. Most cards also allow 180 days for a chargeback.

Don't use gift cards or debit cards online. That's like handing over cash. You basically can't get a refund.

Re: feedback

I suppose that a good rule of thumb is that you don’t leave feedback as a punishment.  But, definitely leave feedback if other buyers should be aware of seller issues.

Re: feedback

Everyone is leaving great advice here. The only thing I can think to add is this: Think, Act, then leave Feedback. In that order. Many Buyers get that out of order, then wonder why their Feedback is removed or don't get the results they were hoping for.

@ukra6794

Just remember that part of the advice @hiiragi_tsukasa is incorrect.  As a buyer you can NOT receive negative feedback from anyone.  Only sellers can.

Re: feedback

As a seller, I would expect to receive bad feedback if I did that to a buyer.  It's entirely your choice and I agree that going through the case process and seeing how they handle it should be best at first, but don't feel bad if negative feedback is warranted.  We all hate to receive it, but sometimes it's appropriate (of course, we try to avoid causing such situations in the first place so that we don't get warranted negative feedback!).

Re: feedback

If its your first disappointment in 12 years, you've done much better than most people posting here, and on ebay in general.  🙂
