fake silver eagles

Why is ebay allowing these china bid ads for 1 oz. .999 silver eagles to be sold when most people know they're fake. nobody can sell a coin $6 dollars under melt value plus the selling fees.  They are also trying to sell the same thing with usa shipping addresses. what a hassle to try to get your money back after the purchase. The feedback on most of them should tell us something 20 sold but no feedback what's up with that.

Re: fake silver eagles

Report the listing and buyer. If enough users report them, they will get flagged and removed. (Hopefully) It is hard for a platform (any platform - Craigslist, Want Ads) that can determine exactly what others are listing. Your post and concern is shared by many on these boards but Buyers MUST understand what protections they have with Ebay's MBG. As always, if the deal is to good to be true, there is a good chance its a bad deal. Not always but buyers need to take some responsibility on researching sellers and what protections (seller return policy and platform guarantees) are available to them.

But if no one reports them, the listing will most likely stay up and burn those buyers that do not protect themselves properly.

I'm just happy that I found a roll of 100 USPS Forever Stamps on eBay for $13 ... I don't know how someone from China is able to get these and sell them for 1/4 of the price that one pays at the USPS counter, but eBay would never allow fake items on their website.

I mean they are genuine.  Right?

Right?  🙄

Re: fake silver eagles

If you believe they are fake, you have some options...

A) Don't buy them.

B) Report the listing.

C) Both.

Re: fake silver eagles

Who knows and they are coming from everywhere not just China as you noted. As for getting your money back that is an easy process and you are not required to return the item. It is in fact illegal under US law to do so. Silver Eagles are not the only counterfeit items coming out of China.

Re: fake silver eagles

Kudos eBay. Must be that highly advanced AI you employed. You know, sniff counterfeits, suspicious listings, policy violations.

oh wait you don’t. It just targets irrelevant listings that have nothing to do with the policy. Legitimate items or listings following guidelines.

Way to screw people over.

Re: fake silver eagles

Ebay support told me it is 100% ok to return Counterfeit American Silver Eagles to China.  I have them on messenger saying it is ok after I went through it is Federal Felony. I could get some legal action going if I wanted to at this point.  I really count not believe after I went throught it step by step that it is very illegal they said it will be ok.

473. Dealing in counterfeit obligations or securities
Whoever buys, sells, exchanges, transfers, receives, or delivers any false, forged, counterfeited, or altered obligation or other security of the United States, with the intent that the same be passed, published, or used as true and genuine, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.

Re: fake silver eagles

You can report these people and businesses but ebay does not care.   They have become a disengenuous company.  They will not let me even place any feedback on anyone because I will give bad feedback when I discover a person or product that is not gennuine.    They now only allow positive feedback for the most part and not allow people who rate a person or product truthfully.  In other words, they have become a company that protects the company and not their customers.  Sad that one used to be able to trust Ebay but not any longer.

If you do report them, ebay will ban you.

@dino21tx

That is the biggest pile of baloney I ever read.
I’ve reported countless listings and sellers over the years and I am still here.
Not only that, this is an old thread from May of 2024.

Re: fake silver eagles

Thread may be from last year but China continues to pollute our money supply with their fakes.   Trump should cut off ALL imports from China until they stop the pirating of our stamps and coins and sending meth and fentanyl to the cartels in Mexico for free.  Of course most Americans have such TDS they would rather see China succeed and kill us all than Trump help our country in the least.    Almost every time I'm in a coin shop some dopefiend comes in trying to sell a fake MOrgan or Eagle.   The flea markets are full of them.
