ebays new international shipping and related fees , ebays CSR haven't found an answer

I called ebay inquiring about fees related to ebays new international shipping program . The question is , what fees if any are used to calculate my FVF from an international sale and shipping . Specifically VAT GST are they used in the calculating of FVF ? I have cancelled all international sales as no one at ebay as of yet can answer my question ( and / or show me where it stated) this is very troublesome to me . Yes it has very vague statements but nothing definitively answering this , and as this affects my bottomline you would think ebay could be a little clearer( yeah thats a joke )  ... not sure why this is so difficult for ebay to answer ... does anyone have a copy of a international sales transactions( ebays new international shipping ) that would show whether or not the VAT and or GST are used in calculating your FVF

OK I was wrong again because I found another example where it was definitely eBay International standard delivery and not USPS First class and it's just like the first example where I DID pay fees on the VAT tax.

 Maybe this VAT tax has been happening more than I realized and I only happened to notice it yesterday since I didn't notice it on this one:

I just checked one of our recent sales through the eBay International Shipping Program (not the GSP, to confirm).  The Final Value Fee was calculated using only the total of the item price and the US leg of shipping (for which we see the price).  It did not include any of what the customer paid for the international leg of the shipping, nor any VAT or GST.  Hopefully that helps put your mind at ease!

eBay never charges fvf on the international shipping amount. That's true if one of the ebay shipping programs is used or if you ship it yourself.    According to the info, you won't pay the international fee when you use EIS.

@brightlightbookseller

Was the buyer definitely charged VAT in the transaction that you looked at?  That would depend on the country that they were in.  I would have thought that you would be charged fvf on the VAT but that's great for sellers there if you are not.

This is a screenshot I made for you. The smaller box (outlined in red) is the Actual Details for this international sale (what the FVF was computed on)......

The larger image is the total sales showing that the FVF was charged on GST (Australia) and the inset frame is the sale price but NOT the shipping costs.....(this item was NOT sold through GSP or EIS)

However, when I used the GSP the FVF was NOT charged on the GST that the buyer had to pay (on a different order)..

I had never seen any buyer pay VAT on my Ebay International Standard Delivery items until yesterday. I just looked up that transaction (to France) to help you.

The item was listed for $39.99 and free shipping to the US. They apparently based the Final Value fees on $39.99 + $11.23 VAT/Import Tax meaning they took the fees out of $51.22. They did not take the fees out of the $16.15 shipping she paid.

@monica-sells

When you used the gsp what country was the buyer in?  It's odd that they would charge fvf on VAT  for EIS as in the example from @sapphire_studio   but not for the GSP.

It's all VERY simple.

You ONLY pay fees for the item sold, shipping $ to the US destination, and USA Sales Tax (if charged to the buyer for item to ship to Kentucky or whatever state IES is located) You will also pay 1.4% for an 'international' charge being done.

Sellers NEVER pay a fee on the VAT Customs Fees or Extra shipping $ to get it to the 'international' destination.

I think you're referring to the global shipping program. With EIS There is only one shipping price they pay ....it's not divided into shipping to any us location.

 Plus as you can see from my example they did charge a final value fee on the VAT tax with EIS.

Keep in mind yesterday really is the first time I've ever seen any buyer have to pay a VAT tax on my EIS items.  I always thought the VAT tax was only something with the global shipping program. I don't know if it was because it was France or if it's a new thing they're starting to implement.

OK I'm sorry in the example I gave above I guess they selected USPS first class International for some reason which is more expensive than EIS for them.  Even though I do offer both I rarely encounter anyone who chooses to use USPS.  That must be why they had to pay a VAT tax (And why I was charged fees on that tax).

A few times when eBay International shipping  has lost my package and my buyer has filed an INR,  Ebay closes the case with no fault to me, refunds the buyer and I get to keep the money.  Technically when you read about them losing items in EIS it says you have to refund the buyer out of your own money and then file a claim to get back the cost of the item and that doesn't include shipping. That has not been my experience on multiple occasions.

 That extra insurance makes it worth these fees in my opinion.
