ebay sent buyer shoes without box sleeve

I recently sold a pair of A Ma Maniere Jordan 3s to a buyer. They included a clear plastic branded sleeve that goes around the box. I have pictures for proof that I had the sleeve. ebay just authenticated the shoes and they were delivered to the buyer today. Buyer says the shoes and box look great but the sleeve isn’t there. It must’ve been left in the authentication office while there. Buyer contacted ebay and they said the only way to handle it is with a return case, but I don’t think that’s the only way. I’m out right now, but I’m going to call them when I get home. Is there another way to handle this? Can someone in the department look for the sleeve? I shouldn’t get penalized for this.

Re: ebay sent buyer shoes without box sleeve

Just got off the phone with a wonderful rep from the sneaker/authenticity department. Success!! He informed me that their policy is that after a seller’s item is authenticated, the buyer doesn’t take responsibility for anything that happens after. Because of this, he closed the return case in my favor. He also said that it IS in fact final sale. The buyer can’t return the item. My funds are now being released. He also told me that the buyer can call the sneaker department and get a partial refund for the value of the sleeve. I told the buyer to do so and everything worked out great. This is important info for sellers. Thank you all for your great responses!!

I mean they could just lie abt the shoes themself, why would they lie about a plastic sleeve?

In order to file an INAD claim. Maybe they changed their mind, maybe they just need the sleeve, maybe they plan on sending you back "not A Ma Maniere Jordan 3s" sneakers.

Since you don't offer returns an INAD claim is the ticket to force a return.

You're new and selling highly scammable items.

Re: ebay sent buyer shoes without box sleeve

If they went thru the authenticator, I believe that you are off the hook for any not as described claims.

Supposedly the authentication service is supposed to deal with these.

Re: ebay sent buyer shoes without box sleeve

I know they aren’t malicious because they just opened a regular return case cause ebay told them to. This means they would have to have the authentic shoes and send them back to auth. But they also are willing to accept a partial refund of around $80. This makes me think ebay actually messed up. No INAD was filed. Do you think it would be possible for ebay to find the sleeve and send it to him? If he sends the shoes back without the sleeve they won’t be authenticated. Right?

Yeah, he can only send a regular return request.

From https://pages.ebay.com/authenticity-guarantee-sneakers/

All it says is the below, but doesn't say who's on the hook for it. I doubt eBay would accept responsibility.

Ebay/Authenticator should be on the hook. Dont let anyone at ebay tell you otherwise.

They forced you to use their authenticator they are responsible.

Re: ebay sent buyer shoes without box sleeve

So what should I do? Get in touch with the authentication department? I’m in good contact with the buyer so he knows what’s up and sent a return request. If i issue a partial refund, does he have grounds to file anything else? I’m not tryna get penalized for something ebay did.

It wasn’t lost or damaged though. If ebay authenticated it, wouldn’t it be on them to deal with his claim?

They are not working too well for the buyer.  If the seller has " no return" policy ebay is not going to allow the claim.  Unfortunately, this has been happening even when the authenticator sends the buyer the wrong shoes.   Sure, they are "authentic" just not the ones the buyer purchased.  This program is having some other issues as well.

Apparently, once the shoes have been authenticated and received by the buyer, there is some sort of "final sale" policy involved if the seller had a "no returns" policy.   Details of this whole program are hard to find at the moment as far as exact  policy details and procedures.  Found this in the announcements:

Can buyers return items purchased with Authenticity Guarantee?

Buyers can return an item if the seller accepts returns, as stated in the listing, and the return takes place within the seller’s return window. If the seller does not accept returns or the return is submitted outside the return window, this will be considered final sale and cannot be returned, subject to any consumer law rights that the buyer has in the relevant jurisdiction in which the item is sold including rights that require exceptions to any “final sale” policy. Any item that does not receive our authenticity guarantee tag, will not fall under our final sale policy.

Can't find a thing regarding the "final sale" policy, but I recall initially reading about it.

So what should I do? I’m fine with paying the 80 for a partial refund, but i wanna make sure if I do that the buyer can’t file a dispute or anything like that past it.

@cavirk-0

Generally speaking, a partial refund DOES NOT absolve you from future claims against the transaction.

Has the buyer filed a return case?
