I recently sold a pair of A Ma Maniere Jordan 3s to a buyer. They included a clear plastic branded sleeve that goes around the box. I have pictures for proof that I had the sleeve. ebay just authenticated the shoes and they were delivered to the buyer today. Buyer says the shoes and box look great but the sleeve isn’t there. It must’ve been left in the authentication office while there. Buyer contacted ebay and they said the only way to handle it is with a return case, but I don’t think that’s the only way. I’m out right now, but I’m going to call them when I get home. Is there another way to handle this? Can someone in the department look for the sleeve? I shouldn’t get penalized for this.

@cavirk-0. Just curious, what is so important about some plastic sleeve that goes over the box? Is your buyer planning on wearing that too? I guess I just don't understand why a piece of plastic is worth 80 bucks on a partial.
I would try to get a hold of that Authenticator place and reference your shoes, you must have been given the phone number correct?

Shoes like this aren't meant to be worn per say, they're wearable collectors items and the box and everything else add or subt value from potential resales later on

The plastic sleeve comes with every box and just looks nice. It’s assumed to be part of the listing. The 80 dollars is because the market value of the pair is down about 80 from when the buyer purchased the item. I don’t have the phone number, but I know how to get transferred to the auth. department from the regular number. Is there a separate number I can reach them directly from?

Yeah pretty much. He does intend to wear them, but he cares about the box. He’s spending a lot of money after all.

If buyer opens "not as described" case (time is of the essence). You must approve return (EBAY has money back guarantee) or EBAY if step in and give customer full refund (and let them keep the shoes). Buyer always wins!

They opened a return case, not a “not as described” case. I’m communicating with them and all they want is the sleeve, or compensation for it.

If they are telling you they want to return the shoes or reimbursed around $80.00 and if you do one or the other, I do not see how they would have cause to claim something later. They have the shoes and now they are making you a offer base on their examining them. Maybe there is a way to hold you accountable for something later but I am not sure.
It will be interesting to see how the Authenticator responds to this.

I totally agree. I’ve been talking with them, and they don’t even want to return them, an ebay rep just said on the phone that it was the only solution. I’m guessing they didn’t look much into it to find other solutions. I’ll post here after i have a conversation with authentication.

I never actually had anyone want to return anything so I can not say this is for sure, but I recall reading as part of a return request there was a option to offer a partial refund. If they did the formal request thru eBay's did you get the get the partial refund option?

Yeah partial refund is an option on the return case.

@cavirk-0 wrote:It wasn’t lost or damaged though. If ebay authenticated it, wouldn’t it be on them to deal with his claim?
Losing a part of an item can be considered damage. If you sent in a watch and it arrived missing the crystal, it's damaged.
Look at the whole thing as "the item", not just the shoes. That includes the sneakers, the box, and .....the sleeve.

Thanks for clarifying this, I don't personally have the number as I have never used this service but have read the terms and conditions of the program.
#9. States: items that are lost or damaged during the authenticity guarantee process are protected by eBay's money back guarantee.
Your buyer's plastic logo sleeve was lost during the above process. This is on ebay not you.
I wish you well dear and thank you for replying back to everyone.

Absolutely agree with you, That sleeve was part of the whole package and the authenticator received it as well, they lost it, this is on ebay now as it's their program.

Just got off the phone with a wonderful rep from the sneaker/authenticity department. Success!! He informed me that their policy is that after a seller’s item is authenticated, the buyer doesn’t take responsibility for anything that happens after. Because of this, he closed the return case in my favor. He also said that it IS in fact final sale. The buyer can’t return the item. My funds are now being released. He also told me that the buyer can call the sneaker department and get a partial refund for the value of the sleeve. I told the buyer to do so and everything worked out great. This is important info for sellers. Thank you all for your great responses!!
