Hello everyone,
Some buyer bought item from my shop, paid for it and the same day he asked for cancel. However if I cancel it, ebay wants me to pay promoted listing ad fee. Is it possible somehow to get it credited? As the transaction wasn't made (requested cancel by buyer) I don't understand it.
What I saw, someone had similar problem 6 years ago (https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/eBay-Promoted-Listing-Ad-Fee-Not-Refunded-when-you-Cancel-a/td...) however I don't know if things have changed somehow since that.
Thank you in advance for the answers.
Best regards

Promoted Listings Advanced (pay per click) fees are not refunded.
Promoted Listings Express (auction format listing) fee is a non-refundable listing upgrade fee.
Promoted Listings Standard (pay on sale) fees are automatically credited after you process an order cancellation. The credit is usually pretty quick, in line with the final value fee credit, but occasionally I see a delay where the credit comes 2 weeks later. Either way, it's all automatic.

Seems ridiculous to have to pay a fee when they should have done a better job screening the buyer. I had a buyer not pay and had to eat the charge because of their policies.

I agree, Promoted Listings Standard fees are refunded automatically. I came here looking for the answer and the automatic refund hit my account while browsing these replies.

How can ebay do a better job of "screening the buyer" to make sure they wont change their mind?

Did you ever get a solid answer?

Ebay is robbing thousands of sellers per day. This is still going on in Jan 2024. Why should the seller eat the promotional fee when the buyer cancels for any reason bf payment or not? the answer: They shouldn't. Theres one thread that claims the promotional fees are charged back in the next months invoice from an Ebay employee here:

Ms Shinja claims to be a Sr. Product Marketing Manager for Promotions. If so, she blatantly lied to all of us. She should be fired immediately. I had to call Ebay twice already and will be making my third call tomorrow regarding this thievery.
Ebay, set up to automatically refund sellers promotional fees (all types not just standard) for all cancelled orders.
I'm getting my ducks in a row to file a class action lawsuit against these thieves. Guess what? My lawyer tells me I'll win. We got this sellers. We must stand and fight against this type of egregiousness.

Last time I called the rep said it was a "glitch". Well the "glitch" is still present and its been years since this first started. As sellers, we were lied to. They are stealing our money and our time.
