No one here can really answer that question, because everyone's tax situation is different.  Individual circumstances determine how one reports income for tax purposes, what tax rate will be used, what is owed on that income, if anything, and so on.

Based on your listings, you are operating as a small business, and you have costs and expenses to offset the income, to reduce the net and your tax liability.  You should consult a tax professional to show you how to set up the necessary record- and book-keeping.  It's pretty straightforward, and once you get help setting it up, you can take it from there.

     One would think that would be the case but the OP has been selling for well over a year and eBay is just now getting around to asking for the SSN or ITIN? Something seriously not adding up here.

When first signing up to MP eBay required only the last 4 digits of the SSN, since the 1099k requirement for the IRS, all sellers are now having to update/provide the full SSN for 2022 sales.

Sorry, repeated information, I missed lacemaker3 comment.........

I’m in the 1099 situation now. I sold one product under $600 and eBay is asking me for my social. Is it required even if your product was negotiated from the original listing price of $630 but you sold it for only $550?

I called ebay on this exact issue.  My gross sales for 2022 was around $450.  Way below the $600 threshold yet they still hold my funds hostage.  Their system is set that when you hit $300 in sales you are required to give your SS of ITIN , no way to override or get past this.  Since this is the case ebay should note the $300 threshold and not the $600--or do what they say and use the $600 as the bench mark.  What a bogus way to get what they want--even if you don't reach the $600 amount.

@turf-tamer

With what you’ve sold and if what is currently listed sells, you will be over the $600.

If you would like to be paid for your sells, you must provide the information.

Total gross sales for 2022 was around $450. Not anywhere near $600.  So that does not compute.  However if what you are saying applies to 2023 then maybe.  However the requirement should NOT be until actual sales reach the $600 threshold.  If what you say is correct then anyone who lists items that total $600 is required to provide SS or ITIN regardless of whether they actually sell or not.  How difficult is it for ebay to just use the $600 threshold when it is actually reached and not projected!!!

eBay is required to submit a 1099-K when your sales reach $600.  So they can't wait until after you reach it, because then if you refuse to cooperate they would be stuck without your tax information which they are legally required to provide to the IRS.  So they have to have the information already, on the day you hit that threshold.

Efficencies of scale?

Some differences are so small that if a seller hits $300 by say, March, it is worth lumping them in with the batch of sellers who hit between $299 and $999 in sales, rather than going back and making a single form for someone who sold $304 in March and then another $395 in November.
