Re: eBay will disclose the name address of sellers beginning in June

I have a mailbox at a local UPS Store that I have used for all my auction stuff since... 1999? 2000? It's easily been 23 years. In all those years, TWICE, people have attempted to "visit" (because they wanted to buy more comic books) and were disappointed it was a mailbox and not an actual store. Two people. In 23 years. I think everyone will be fine, honestly. And, as others have pointed out, most sellers will not even qualify for this disclosure. If anyone is really worried about it, they should set up a mailbox at either a UPS Store (formerly Mailboxes Etc.) or at the post office. Pretty much has been standard issue for people who want to prevent others from knowing their home address when conducting mailings for decades.

I haven't gotten a phone book in 10 years.

There are two exceptions to sharing your full physical address for the INFORM Consumers Act:

I am quaking in my boots.
The city and state where my selling ID lives is already shown in her listings.
Now the world will also know that I live in the United States of America ?!?!?

I lived in a rough neighbourhood for years.  People would sometimes want to pick up an item to save shipping.  "Sure."  I would say, and give them my address. Then I'd hear back.  "OK, it's fine if you just mail it". 😁

Set up a po box.  Use it for all things ebay and for other sites you sell on.  Small ones are $.50 a day or less depending where you are.  Legit business expense.

Re: eBay will disclose the name address of sellers beginning in June

Since Local Pickup does not reduce your costs ( my labour is worth at least the minimum wage here or 25c a minute), there shouldn't be any reduction in shipping fees for picking up.

You have to be home (or at the designated spot), you have to wait, you face a very small chance of robbery, and a greater chance that the buyer will not turn up.

I politely discourage requests to pick up by designating a time well past postal delivery and at an uncomfortable place, usually my church after Sunday service during the Fellowship Hour when we share tea and pastries. Our minister makes killer butter tarts, but no one has taken me up on it yet.

@toysaver  Doesn't the US have something equivalent to Canada411, which records all public landlines?

A link that I have never seen before or would count on.

Fake news!

If this was real, our local news / national news would be all over it.

Re: eBay will disclose the name address of sellers beginning in June

As others mentioned, my name and address have appeared on shipping labels and packing slips for a couple of decades here.

Publishing my personal cell phone number concerns me.  I am a legally licensed business and work from home.  I have no business phone number.

I recall years ago (over a decade?) when buyers were given your contact info including phone number after they paid for a purchase. I actually had a couple call me back then.  Thankfully, nice people.  One wanted to thank me for the item they bought and one wanted to pay me extra to ship his item Priority Overnight.

In the not so long ago past I have had one buyer send me messages threatening to burn my house down some night when my family is sleeping and another threatened to visit me and cut up my face.  Both over low dollar items unfortunately sold to psychotic buyers.  These type of people will now have our phone numbers?

Does this mean antsy buyers will be able to call me at all hours of the day and night wanting to know why USPS has not yet delivered their item?  Sound like a nightmare during 4th quarter holiday selling and overloaded shipping carriers.

Sign me up immediately when eBay gets the exclusion request form ready!!!!!
