Likewise.

I strongly recommend to anyone a full reading of that article linked above before commenting...

Re: eBay will disclose the name address of sellers beginning in June

The UK has been doing this for years.

I noticed last night that the"Name" of a UK seller was not their personal name but the business name.I do not know if this seller is a business or a private person clearing the lumber room.

As others have said, I have my (business) name and my personal address on my shipments. How else could the postal system return them if necessary?

Some sellers may want to open a postal or commercial mail box for their business.

Are there exceptions to sharing my information?
There are two exceptions to sharing your full physical address for the INFORM Consumers Act:

1) If your address is your residential address, only your state and country will be shown.

2) If you use a different address for product returns, then that return address will be displayed.

As Paul Harvey used to say....

@a_c_green

I read it.  Looks there's a variety of reasons why they're doing this.  Mostly because a new law was passed and to crack down on all the fraud and stolen merchandise. Making most everyone accountable.  That's my take on it anyway.

I have nothing to hide.  I just don't want anyone to see me in a bathing suit.  If that were required I'd quit.

Yikes, this will cause as much excitement as the thresholds for 1099-K's.  Two notable details:

The INFORM Consumers Act directs online marketplaces to verify high-volume third-party sellers by authenticating the seller's government ID, tax ID, bank account information, and contact information. High-volume third-party sellers are defined as vendors who have made 200 or more discrete sales in a 12-month period amounting to $5,000 or more.

If only our government were so transparent. I read the other day that the Pentagon admitted they can't find $220 Billion worth of military equipment. I guess I won't be so mad at myself next time I misplace my car keys.

Um, the linked article is mostly a summary of eBay's own Help page and podcast about this news, with some added details about the legislation and a Senate press releasae.

Re: eBay will disclose the name address of sellers beginning in June

Defense Contractors have always had a real sweet deal with the Government.      Large companies buy computers,   equipment for setting up factories,   even paper clips and charge them off to the government.

This is what they are talking about,  not military equipment.

If you really wanted to save money,   the government should clamp down on defense contractors who are basically written a blank check.      They won't because politicians don't want to rock what is a lucrative industry in many parts.

There was already at least one recommendation here that people should actually READ the article first.

P.S. When can we start panicking and looting?
