eBay’s Multi-User Account Access is Now Live to all Sellers* in the U.S.

eBay is enabling sellers to better manage their business by securely granting access to employees to create drafts, edit and launch listings on their behalf.

eBay now has a solution for sellers that may need help managing their online businesses. Multi-User Account Access (MUAA) is eBay’s latest feature that enables sellers to grant access to Listings within their Seller Hub in a more private and secure way.

Sellers can now add employees or delegates to perform seller activities on their behalf without giving full access to their eBay account.

Here’s how it works: Sellers invite employees as users, granting each user specific permissions and access for tasks like editing, drafting and publishing listings. Employees then create an account and can access the Seller Hub in their own view. This provides both users — the seller and the employee — added security and privacy for their eBay account.

Check it out on the eBay Account Settings today!

If you’d like to learn more about how we implemented this feature, read this Engineering blog post.

* All U.S. sellers that are opt-ed in to Seller Hub now have access to Multi-User Account Access.

I have an employee doing some listing for me currently using this. I can't view the activity. I know the listings are being done because I see them in my drafts. It doesn't show me the time they logged in or out.

the only activity I see is the initial invite and that's it.

All I get when going to the permissions page is "You are not authorized to view this page." - hmmm why is that?

Hi @inventusgroup

Thanks.

Re: eBay’s Multi-User Account Access is Now Live to all Sellers* in the U.S.

Ok, that's good for about 1 out of 1000 eBay sellers.  Now how about fixing some broken eBay parts for the other 999?

List more, sell more. Goodwill that other, uh, stuff.

Feeling sleepy? There's an app for that.

I wish my sales weren't dropping so low that I no longer need employees anymore.  Maybe ebay should fix what is broken and get our sales back to where they were...Than we can discuss adding functionality on a broken venue.

Re: eBay’s Multi-User Account Access is Now Live to all Sellers* in the U.S.

alan@ebay   I've read the OP 3 times and maybe I'm just dense on this but what is the purpose of this new feature?  If I create a listing why would I give an eBay employee permission to go in and change things?

-I acquire the item

-I research the item and determine the price I want to sell it at

-I take the pictures, measure and weigh the item to complete the shipping section and upload pictures

-I complete the Item Specifics because I researched the item and know as much as I can about it

-I determine the listing format, GTC or Auction (and how long on the latter) ... I also determine when to relist Auctions and for what duration ... I also decide when and if to end a GTC to either remove it from eBay to sell it on a different venue

-I determine handling time

-I decide whether or not to offer an item for international shipping AND I decide what countries I will offer it to ... obviously, only those that I can track it to

... so, what is left to have someone else change?

@mr_lincoln
NO, no no. It's to be able to give access to the SELLER'S employee/s.

Not to an ebay employee (although I'm pretty sure ebay already has that access if they choose anyway).

Unfortunately as per SOP it's rollout is 'phased' so basically half baked as there's no way to limit which parts of the account an employee can access or not access.

Thanks for the clarification ... it was NOT clear on that point.  And yes, eBay already has access to accounts AND makes unsolicited changes to them ... example: turning on Best Offer on accounts using the Quick Listing Tool ...

Hi a-ipower,

The option to invite a user to access your Seller Hub is under Account Settings, where you should find a Permissions link in Account Preferences.  Click on the down-arrow next to your account ID (top left of the Home page), choose Account Settings, and you should find the Permissions link.  When you click on this, since you are opted into Seller Hub, it will take you to the Authorized Users page. I've attached a couple of screenshots below.

Please let us know if you still don't see it.

Hi Lester,

Thanks for the comment, I did browser the section you mentioned and got to the menu section in your screenshot before my last post, but still didn't find it then(My interface and option menu is slightly different than yours) now I looked more carefully and it's in the very bottom of the page on the permission tap.

I just took another screenshot for those who struggle to find it.   Sorry to say it, the "add new user" directory is terrible and still under decade old ebay interface, as a Software engineer myself, I can't stress enough how this new great feature is so hard for users to locate.   A minor complain, really appreciate your help.

Hi a-ipower,

Yes, I should have remembered that not all eBay users are seeing the 'new' Account Settings UI yet, and still get this legacy interface above.  Thanks for adding the details on how to get to the MUAA features using this setup.

We haven't made a big push yet to drive users to using MUAA for a couple of reasons.  Firstly, it's only available on the US site for US-domiciled users, and secondly, we have only enabled a couple of Listings permissions in this initial release, which we feel has limited (albeit valuable) appeal to sellers.  Some of the initial feedback we have received, and indeed has been highlighted by eBay 'watchdogs' and  other users in the press and on forums, is that this initial release is only a step in the right direction and has limited value to sellers.  We have always acknowledged that only providing the current functionality is more of a teaser than a full-fledged feature set, but felt that it was better to roll out incrementally as we build MUAA out over time.

The good news is that in early 2020, we hope to make MUAA available worldwide (all sites where Seller Hub is available) and to all users regardless of where they reside.  We are also hard at work building out the rest of the sales transaction lifecycle of feature functionality, adding order management, shipping, messaging and other Seller Hub features, and we hope to release these as they become ready in 2020.

Hope that helps everyone understand what we are shooting for with MUAA for Sellers.

Regards,

One has to wonder how many sellers on ebay would actually need or want multi user access.

Not to be a debbie downer, my immediate concern is creating this new function even as a "teaser" when other MAJOR fixes to ebay, particularly the IS and Seller Hub have not been fixed. You create or enhance one, then another feature that worked well fails. JMO.
