Good morning,
eBay has restricted my account after selling a few fireplaces that retail for over $1000. They asked me for a lot of information like ID card photos, bank statements, proof of business, and invoices or receipts. I provided all this information besides receipts since the items we have been selling are obsolete inventory for our business and a few years old (but still in great condition as we maintain them). We did get a negative review for a piece of flue that shipped late (our warehouse guy was out on private business). Any specific reasons this is happening? Any recommendations to fight this, and has anyone else faced this issue and came out selling? Would love the advice and potential work arounds for not having a receipt for a three-year-old fireplace.
Thank you!

Just to review - Ebay told you to ship, and THEN after you shipped YOUR product they decided to steal your money?

Yes, they asked for tracking information on fireplaces sent via freight. I provided them with that information, and they asked for more. Held that 12,500 for two months before the decision was overturned. BOSS WAS **bleep**!

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but I highly doubt the BBB had anything to do with your reinstatement.
Glad you go it worked out.

I filed with BBB after eBay sent me an email stating I was indefinitely restricted from selling and had no way of overturning it. About a week after I filed with BBB got email from them asking for more documents. I think it played a role.

@isokernus, I strongly suspect that the reason you were restricted was because you didn't provide all the information that was requested, when it was first requested of you. That makes you look like you've got something to hide.
In your first post, you clearly said that you had neglected to provide the receipts that had been requested. Since you say that you are working as a business, the lack of receipts is a huge red flag. Businesses need to keep their expense documentation, and keeping good records is the primary indicator that the IRS refers to when they are deciding if an activity qualifies as a business or not.

Then, in a later post, you said that you were working to find the receipts:

And yes, I gave eBay all the information they needed to start a business account which allowed me to list significantly more. I'm working right now to get as many receipts as we can, some of these items are over 7 years old but for the vast majority of these items we have receipts. I will keep everyone updated! I do appreciate everyone's help and advice.
That was your last update, until you came on with the update that you had been reinstated after working with eBay through the BBB, a month later.
Congratulations on getting this straightened out. I agree that working through the intermediation of the BBB probably played a role, but it might have taken less time if you had been able to provided the records and documentation when they first asked for them.

I was given the indefinite suspension after I provided majority of receipts only the items, we had over 7 years we couldn't find. Thats when I involved BBB.
