I have sold something for 10500.
eBay paid my bank account 9400.
The buyer gave up on the sale, now eBay wanted me to pay 10500!
worst of all: after I paid 10500 via credit card to eBay after trying to talk to at least 5 different eBay customer service (all 5 gave me different explanations and “guarantee” that eBay’s commission would be credited back into my account)
eBay went ahead and stole their commission from my checking account. After I already paid with the credit card. Meaning: eBay is paying itself its own commission and double charging me!
Without my authorization.
the last chat I had with customer service they finally gave me a case number and email address, after more than 48 hours I get a vague reply of what happened, that they pretty much stole money from my banking account and they are right.
I have all the screenshots to prove that eBay is pretty much either stealing or has no idea how yo run their billing department.
I don’t know what else to do but to fight these charges with my bank and maybe hire a lawyer?
seller beware: if you sell something and have to return, apparently eBay is paying itself the commission twice! So you lose a lot of money for incomplete sales and customer service neither doesn’t care or have no clue of what’s going on.

I have an item and sell it for 10500.
I get paid 9400, rest goes to ebay (commission).
Sale is cancelled, returned, whatever.
Ebay charges me 10500 plus 1100....
If ebay is doing a legit business transaction it would charge me what i received from the sale (9400).
I don't understand your math...sorry

Both charges (9400 plus ebay commission) are posted (not on hold) in my credit card statement.
I understand i have to return/pay for the 9400 but why do i have to pay for ebay's commission, they have that money in their position from day one of the sale and pay out to me.
Another charge (same amount for ebay commission) it is showing as pending my checking account but my available balance went down because of that.

I tried to do that with the card yes, and both payments went thru (my pay out and ebay's commission) but they went ahead and debited their commission my bank account too (after the credit card payments posted).

You must get your credit card company's fraud division involved with this.

Yep, that's what happened tho when I tried to refund the buyer there were some glitch in the system that wouldn't let me do it, I think ebay did the refund itself.
During the time I was trying to refund the buyer I was also trying to get help from ebay CSR chat but nobody knew anything nor cared really.

"Does it matter what item it is for? how does knowing the item change anything claimed?"

P.S. 1
I am rounding up the amounts. I am too tired to put in the exact amounts here, this has been going on for more than a month now.
I will save the cents and more details for filing claims with my bank and credit card, but paying it's own commission by taking money out of my checking account and from my credit card is stealing.
Ebay took money from me that I've never even received as pay out to begin with. Twice.
I have no problem returning what was paid to me, it's only fair, I have my item i return the money, but why do i have to pay for Ebay's commission? Twice? What If i didn't have thousand something bucks extra in my account? Who would pay for my over drawn fees? I did not receive this money from ebay, they can't just take it out. That's theft.

UPDATE: i got a message from Ebay they have sent me a pay out for one of the commission fees (1 out of 2).
Let's see, hopefully they will sort out this glitch in their system.
They still owe me "pay out" 2 out of 2 since they did take out their own commission from my accounts (checking and credit) twice.
I just got really scared from what I read about it on reddit now, seems I am not the only one.

The "stealing" and "cooked books" remarks are ridiculous.

Don’t sell expensive items on here, go other avenues

This 24 billion dollar company must be hurting.
They are resorting to stealing from sellers now.

How do you think companies become a 24 billion dollar enterprise. A little here and a little there it all adds up.

IF your suggestion of theft was remotely valid - the FTC would be all over eBay a long time ago. Some times posters have a rather unique way to try explain their issue using the "fuzzy math" principles they learned some where along the way.

Agree - tried to follow what happened but it was like trying to straighten out the backlash "birds nest" on my Ocean City bait casting reel. Got dizzy and just gave up. Simply pulled out my Barlow and cut that birds nest out.
