I have sold something for 10500.
eBay paid my bank account 9400.
The buyer gave up on the sale, now eBay wanted me to pay 10500!
worst of all: after I paid 10500 via credit card to eBay after trying to talk to at least 5 different eBay customer service (all 5 gave me different explanations and “guarantee” that eBay’s commission would be credited back into my account)
eBay went ahead and stole their commission from my checking account. After I already paid with the credit card. Meaning: eBay is paying itself its own commission and double charging me!
Without my authorization.
the last chat I had with customer service they finally gave me a case number and email address, after more than 48 hours I get a vague reply of what happened, that they pretty much stole money from my banking account and they are right.
I have all the screenshots to prove that eBay is pretty much either stealing or has no idea how yo run their billing department.
I don’t know what else to do but to fight these charges with my bank and maybe hire a lawyer?
seller beware: if you sell something and have to return, apparently eBay is paying itself the commission twice! So you lose a lot of money for incomplete sales and customer service neither doesn’t care or have no clue of what’s going on.

UPDATE: i got a message from Ebay they have sent me a pay out for one of the commission fees (1 out of 2).
Let's see, hopefully they will sort out this glitch in their system.
They still owe me "pay out" 2 out of 2 since they did take out their own commission from my accounts (checking and credit) twice.
I just got really scared from what I read about it on reddit now, seems I am not the only one.

I did not think there was a way for a seller to reimburse eBay via credit card. I thought everything had to go through the bank account.
Are you sure you paid eBay with your credit card, and not someone posing as eBay?

What do you mean when you say the buyer "gave up on the sale"?

I am 100% sure. I have the print screen from the $ taken from my cc. And it shows the same as when I buy stuff from eBay with my credit. I’m not just a seller I’m also a buyer. I always chatted with customer service in the eBay website and i did pay inside eBay website with my credit card whatever it was that I owed under the “payment” tab. It does give you an option to pay whatever negative amount you have there via bank acct or credit card.

It's set up on mine to do the card. Not sure where I went to do that though. Possibly when I initially set up MP.
I'm surprised they would allow or for such a large amount though.

Buyer gave up the sale because (long story short) FedEx did not ship on time and lost the package before it even left my city! I was able to find and retrieve the package from FedEx after going thru security cameras and other nightmares, after all that the buyer said he didn't want it anymore.
So, I accepted and issued refund via ebay, ebay then said i owe the full amount (their commission that was never paid to me included).
It gave me option to pay my negative balance with credit card or cash, in ebay website under "payments".
I paid with credit card what I owed and what I didn't even owe/own (ebay's commission!).
Both charges went thru and got debited from my credit card.
And not satisfied ebay now removed it's own commission (again) from my checking account.
Zero help from customer service, they either don't care, have no idea what's going on or just straight up lie.

It's under "payments" in your ebay profile page

Was it for the packs flash that is relisted?

Seems like something is missing from this story.

Just to make sure. When you refunded. Did you do the full amount?

Im too confused to respond.

What I think happened is...
Buyer bought something. FedEx maybe lost package. Seller was able to redirect back to them.
Seller refunded buyer but apparently still owed commission.
I'm thinking either eBay had to step in and force the refund (losing out on getting eBay's cut back) or possibly she didn't refund the full the full amount. And since this was prior to eBay prorating eBay's cut. Lost out on getting eBay's cut back.
I don't know. Could be a screw up on eBay's part. OP, would try to get in touch with eBay for business on Facebook.

eBay takes their fee from the buyer's payment, thus your payment is less than it sold for.
Next is you need to attach a method for selling fees. This method will be used for seller fees that aren't taken from your payout. An example is the .30 transaction fee that eBay keeps when they refund the buyer. eBay gives the buyer's payment back and they credit you with the final value fee but they want that .30 transaction fee and will charge it to your payment method.
When a refund is made through eBay the refund is made from the funds that are in the process of being paid out. Refunding reverses their payment. You should only have. 30 charged to your credit card.

@lepke1979
When a seller refunds the buyer, the seller refunds the full amount. Of course the seller no longer has the full amount because eBay already took their fees. The seller is supposed to fund the full amount, and the fees are returned at a later time. This is how it works if the buyer filed a claim.

Is it possible that instead of charging your card twice, one of those charges is for a "temporary hold" (your card statement may say pending)? Though eBay says they don't do this, we have seen enough here to know that at least the entity that they use for processing (Adyen) certainly does, and they are not that fast in releasing that hold. Please check on this first.

Does it matter what item it is for? how does knowing the item change anything claimed?

Why bother hiring a lawyer? They will cost more than what you are out. If you are calculating correctly then contact SEC and DOJ. They would not stand for cooked books. eBay would not risk it either. We believe you are making a calculation error. You are saying ebay kept 2200 double the fees. Without seeing your actual transactions no one can tell what happened.
Item sold 10500
Ebay receives 10500
Ebay send you 9400
Buyer cancels after item not delivered
You have item 10500 + 9400 = 19900
You payback ebay 10500 leaving you item of 10500
ebay pays back buyer 10500
Based on what you stated the transactions cancel out each other and you should get a refund from ebay for 1099.70
How did you come up that ebay charge you twice the fees = 2200? It may take a few days, but eBay should credit you back 1099.70 and if it is true, they double charged at 2200 then you should get back 2199.70. We have never found eBay in error with calculations. It is basic math and done with a program. Everyone would be having issues and not just you. eBay is a Publicly Traded Company, and the SEC and DOJ would be all over this if what you claim is true. Something is amiss with your calculations. Through the years we have had returns and eBay only charged us 30 cents on them. eBay is not stealing from sellers.
