eBay guarantee

Hello Community,

This return is very upsetting. When I sale my handbags l post the max amount

of photos. I add the height, width, length to the description.

Then I ask if you have any questions please send me an email.

I do everything in my power to avoid a return.

The other day I get a return and the reason is: I just didn't like it. The handbag

was bigger than what I wanted.

Why do I go to all the trouble listing every detail to get I just didn't like it?

In my book that is no reason for a return. That I consider buyers regret and the person should not be able to return an item for such a feeble excuse.

Sales are hard to come by & it's almost impossible to become a Top Rated Seller.

If customers are able to return items because they just don't like it, I feel the seller should have some say in the matter.

Especially when Priority Shipping cost 12.50

I would like to know how others feel about guarantee returns?

I understand if the item is damaged or not as described. Or if it doesn't fit.

But to return an item because I don't like it, it is no excuse to be able to make a return!

I understand.  Just thought the OP confused guaranteed with automatic.  Now I think she just meant guaranteed because she takes returns, although she might be re-thinking that as we speak.

 

My bad.  

 

The issue is the OP took exception to the reason for return which was "just doesn't like it."

If you accept returns, you accept them for ANY reason. This is one of the biggest things sellers dont seem to understand. "I dont like it" is a valid reason to return if the seller has a return policy.

Would you rather have the buyer trash the purse and file a false SNAD case against you?

Just a thought...you state when you SELL your handbags, you post the max amount of pictures, and add the height, width, and length to the description.

 

Then you ask if there are any questions, please email me.

 

You don't mention here if your bags are new or used, but condition is a very important part of the description.  Buyers don't want to just see pictures, or ask questions, and many will just hit the back button if important info is not included in the description.  

 

It is possible that a buyer can miss an important detail in a picture, that is why it is so important, for your protection against a SNAD, to disclose pertinent info in the description.

 

Don't know if this applies to you, if not, my apologies, but many just list and say see pictures, and buyers pass them right by.  It can look like see if you can see what is wrong, and if you can't, that's your problem, not mine.

 


OP. SO SORRY!  I checked one of your sold purse listings and you are very thorough in your description.  I couldn't edit the previous post, but I can say that it does not apply to you.

 

As fern*wood said, just change your listings to no returns if you do not want buyer's remorse returns, such as just didn't like it.  


JMO, but I had no returns.  It did not stop a buyer from lying and then damaging the item, and then filing SNAD.

 

If a buyer wants to return something they are going to find a way to do it.

 

Better you get your expensive handbag back safe and sound.

OP, in ecommerce, the buyer does not get a chance to see the listed item in person prior to the sale. Because of this, having a generous return policy is critical to making sales. As a buyer, there’s no way i would spend big money without knowing i can get a refund should the item not match my expectations. “Just don’t like it” is  a valid reason to return. This buyer is an honest one, likely willing to pay return shipping for remorse. That’s preferable to one who makes up a SNAD and sticks a seller with that cost.

You have a point there, and I am SO sorry that happened to you, Emerald.  How sad that someone would do that.  So I guess no matter, returns or no returns, it can get you in the end.

I apologize for my ignorance please explain SNAD?

My 60 day return was for the Holidays. Need to adjust to 14 day returns.

I am trying to be a Top Rated Seller and if you offer 30 day returns eBay says that

will help your status. I was a Top Rated Seller due to illness I lost my status and it's not easy getting it back.

It doesn't matter what your book says. When you offer returns on eBay, the eBay user agreement says that you are required to accept returns for any reason, including buyer remorse.

If you want to be TRS, you need to actually do more than pay lip service to the qualifications.

 

If you accept returns ... you accept returns. Period. You cannot qualify the statement "Returns Accepted" or try to limit it in any way.

And if you just want the TRS for the postage discounts (while we still have them) and don't care about the 10% FVF discount, you don't HAVE to have 1 day handling OR 30 day returns.

You can always go to 1 day and 30d returns once you get the TRS back.
