eBay filters are beyond resonable.

Has anyone been experiencing just how much eBay continues to ratchet up their filters? I recently sold an item and the buyer needed 3-4 weeks to pay in 3 payments via Paypal. I had him buy the item and then simply did not mark it paid because I knew I would receive a bad-boy mark against me if not shipped within 48 hrs. So it sat there as sold with the commission taken out for 3 weeks as the buyer made 2 payments. 2 days before he messaged me to send him a PP invoice for the last payment on an $800 item I get a 7-day account suspension for doing biz off eBay! I called and explained and even offered the proof via messages and Paypal and who would have figured, no one with common sense at eBay. Anyway, I sent the inv 2 days later, he paid, I marked paid, sent the item just as planned. I've been with eBay since they started and have done a million $ in transactions and still get treated like this even with 5-star ratings. Just my laundry for today. and please, a 7-day suspension - am I in grade school? What other company in the business world operates this way. Off eBay e-commerce site just about completed, thank goodness.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head. I guess I would have thought once I proved to the real people and not the bots at eBay someone could have seen the light.  Stupid me.  Thanks for the reply and have a great.

eBay filters are beyond resonable.

The only layaway Ebay permits on the site is Paypal credit.

Sorry you did not know that.  IIRC, next suspension could be thirty days.  At some point, permanent suspension occurs.

Again, sorry.

Sorry you did not know that.

Does it actually say that somewhere? I don't recall ever reading that before and the link you provided doesn't give any more info.  I do know that the system isn't set up for multiple payments but I don't remember seeing that it was actually against policy.

How do you start a layaway program? - The eBay Community

eBay does NOT allow layaway programs. If a customer wants to pay over time, they need to open a paypal credit account. Shame on you OP you bad bad seller.......  it often happens in the summer months when a buyer pays for an item but asks to wait a few days before shipping so they can be back home when package arrives.  Good Customer Service results in a defect.   Typical.  Surprised?  Not Really.    Ok back to packing up my truck with ebay wannabe stuff for the flea market tomorrow.

Yes - it is in the Presale Listings Policy.

Layaway payment programs
Layaway payments and similar payment programs aren't allowed.

Well, the suspension was for off eBay transaction and not layaway.

If you read why the suspension, it was for off eBay transaction not layway.

The suspension was NOT for layaway.  It was for off eBay transaction.

With all due respect, the buyer can have the Post Office hold their mail in the event of a vacation.

This is so buyer and seller protection is not lost.

Perhaps I should have been more specific. The first link  provided me with info from other ebay members but where does eBay specify that it is a policy violation to accept partial payments?  Although many ebay members know the rules inside and out, I do see things repeated here that aren't correct so it's always good to look at the source first.

I looked in the Accepted Payments Policy and I don't see it...I might not be looking in the right place.  They do say "Any payments that occur outside of eBay pages are not allowed, except in certain listing categories." and I suppose that could cover it but I was curious if they specify multiple payments anywhere?

Thanks lucky, I didn't see your post before I posted again.

I do see the statement about layway in the link that you posted, that's an interesting place to put it.

Your issue is with the Bots misinterpreting something in messages.  This has happened quite a few times recently.  Staff has repeatedly said that no action is taken by the Bots and that a human must be involved.  Yet we continue to see situations like yours where sanctions are placed when no intent by the seller to take business off-site is evident.

The problem was not with you trying to work with a customer to allow more time to pay.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Yes, because the layaway was an off ebay transaction via the Paypal invoices.

Only Paypal credit is allowed.  Sorry.
