eBay ends listings and restricts my account based on false information

eBay has removed two on my current listings based on their being "Replica-coins-currency-policy?id=5042.

Neither coin removed from my eBay site is a replica and are properly listed at "Uncertified coins"  with only typical generic listing as Uncirculated  (B.U. {brilliant uncirculated) and Unc.  {Uncirculated condition}. As anyone with even the most basis numismatic knowledge is aware of; these statements are condition and not Sheldon grades ( MS-60 thru MS-70). Neither coin was listed as a certified coin and were being sold as "Uncertified" coins.

I have become aware of certain competitors reporting the coins that they cannot compete with ($$$) to eBay as "Replicas' " and eBay will automatically remove them and restrict the sellers' account. What a great way to eliminate the competition and render eBay complicit with this fraudulent practice.

Obviously, no qualified entity will attempt to grade any coin, let less authenticate the coin without  conducting the evaluation with the actual coin in hand'! It is virtually impossible to do so based on a scan or picture that can readily be modified or manipulated with photo shop. Thus, eBay in their infinite ignorance, simply take the easy way out of a 'report from any person' stating that they suspect that a listing is a 'Replica' ; and  remove the listing(s) without contacting the seller (who at this stage, is the only other person with a vested interest in the listing) and become complicit with the false claim (Fraudulent activity). This deprives the eBay seller/store owner of the benefits of his/her eBay account services which have been paid for.

eBay does not remove items based on 1 report.

If they did every unscrupulous seller / buyer would click report and items would disappear.

@coinquestx1   Have you reported the other Sellers that you "have become aware of certain competitors reporting the coins that they cannot compete with ..."?

Hey @coinquestx1 sorry to hear your account is restricted!

Like @klhmdg  mentioned we don't take action off one report. If you feel this was done by mistake you're welcome to reach out to CS to look into appeal options!

No. eBay will not disclose the source of the reports. One  of the eBay agents told me that my listing received an report from a member that they suspected that the listing was a replica coin.

I have called them and the representative stated that they would elevate my complaint to her supervisor who will get back in about a week ( the same timeframe that the restriction applies).

@coinquestx1   I was referring to the OTHER Sellers you said that you, "have become aware of certain competitors reporting the coins that they cannot compete with .."  THOSE are the ones I wanted to know if you have reported ...

"eBay in their infinite ignorance"

Yes, and the problem with ebay's infinite ignorance is that it is ruining innocent sellers livelihoods.

The best grading companies can tell you if a coin is a fake or has been altered by looking at pictures. (not 100% but a high percentage of). Anyone who has spent years working with coins can do the same thing. There are certain tells that can allow a coin to be determined as fake. It does not need to be in hand. If a picture shows tools marks on the back of the neck on a quarter eagle that is a fake. That is just one of hundreds of examples you can determine by a picture and that is what we would call a tell.

I did report the situation to eBay and the representative stated that she would elevate my case to her supervisor who would get back to me ( several days ago) and no response to date!

Here is the part that I do not understand, ebay will remove items and sanction a seller based on reports from other ebay members who have not made a purchase from you and have unknown reasons for making such a report while at the same time they have 10,138 or thereabouts ebay members with actual first hand experience with the seller who say otherwise.

Re: eBay ends listings and restricts my account based on false information

Quite apparently, eBay does not employ anyone with the qualifications to ascertain if a specific coin is a replica or otherwise and therefore, default to the report that the coin is not genuine. The y( eBay) will not even provide the seller the opportunity to respond to the arbitrary claim and immediately removes the items from the sellers site. They do not refund the sellers' listing fees based on the false claim and may restrict the sellers' ability list further items for a number of days ( basically defraud the seller of his monthly account fees for his/her eBay site and store by retaining all subject funds and providing no services that have been paid for). Insult to injury, they fail to communicate directly with the seller and the eBay parties/representatives who making these false determination remain isolated form  adjudication of the issue at hand. Basically, they have set themselves up as the "judge, jury, and executioner". Not a free and fair business enterprise by any means.
