eBay adding Make An Offer and Auto relist to Auction Listings

Anyone else having a problem with eBay changing Auction Listings to add a Make an Offer with a half price auto reject?  And also adding “automatically relisting items up to 8 times?

I am not new to eBay by any means.  I always use the ebay mobile app and make sure to list my items as I want.  I NEVER choose to allow eBay to automatically relist my items and I NEVER use Make An Offer on an Auction Style Listing.

Is this the latest way eBay is trying to make money at sellers’ expense?

i just had to correct every one of my auctions that eBay changed through the regular site.  This is infuriating me.

Anyone have a solution?

Re: eBay adding Make An Offer and Auto relist to Auction Listings

Hi, the only way i have found to keep Best Offer off my listings is to use my PC and the Advanced Listing Tool. Even then, i have to double check that BO is not selected because it defaults to on sometimes.

Inside the mobile app, the only place i can find to control Best Offer is under Pricing. Under Buy It Now, select "More Options" and it gives you the chance to turn Best Offer off. On is the default setting.

From the mobile app on my iPad, there is some interesting verbage under the heading Format and Price. Scroll down the next page to a paragraph labelled Best Offer. It says this:

"Depending on the category and your seller account eligibility, you may be able to choose the Best Offer option on a Fixed Price listing. This allows buyers to suggest a price they're willing to pay for the item. If you accept an offer, the listing ends and you sell the item to that buyer. Each Best Offer is only valid for 48 hours."

So does this mean some sellers cannot choose to not include Best Offer?

Re: eBay adding Make An Offer and Auto relist to Auction Listings

No ideas, just sympathy. Ebay added best offer to 5 of my listings this week. Ive a mind to delete them and start anew. So tired of making sales DESPITE this platforms mismanagement. I sold 50% more this month, 50 freaking percent! I am by no means a savvy or full time seller, this is my HOBBY and its success has imploded. But its very annoying to waste time changing.listings to fix thier stupidity.

Alas!  It appears that has come up with an ill-advised plan to add the BO option to auction style listings.  This has already been causing some confusion and some hard feelings with buyers that aren't aware that any BO not accepted before a bid is placed becomes void when one is placed.  This is required to avoid legal issues for sellers in states where auctions are strictly regulated.

I'm not familiar with the issue of listings being automatically re-listed.  Perhaps it is one of eBay's famous glitches that seem to be an ever present feature of the site.

Thanks.   I have turned off the Best Offer on the mobile app when listing my items but it magically appears anyway.  I just listed 7 more auctions today and did it from the mobile site (not the app).  Guess you can’t really rely on the App whigh was suppose to mage things easier

Re: eBay adding Make An Offer and Auto relist to Auction Listings

I found this page because so had this exact issue. NEVER happened prior to this and I use the app the relist every time, I'm no newbie. The entire platform for relisting on mobile is different and what was once the easiest and quickest way to relist with just a few taps is now a lot of scrolling and page taps to get through. Something told me they messed with my listings so I viewed one and BOOM, Best offer was on every single one. I had to go into each one on mobile and change the settings manually. Very annoying, a lot more work, wasted time and to be honest I hate how EBay thinks it knows best rather than placing the responsibility in the sellers hands to figure out their own best path to success. I wish there was a way to shut of their suggestions completely. I can understand having the suggestions as an option, especially if new to the platform, but I'm tired of working around their bad coding and consistant monkeying. For example of something they SHOULD spend the time changing how about automatically adding the exact and correct sales tax when it's necessary? I have to over charge on sales tax to cover the highest rate and leave it to my customers to get reimbursed from the state of they so choose. That's crazy in a time when other selling platforms figure out the exact rates. I'd call and complain to EBay, but their customer service on the seller side is horrible.

Re: eBay adding Make An Offer and Auto relist to Auction Listings

I have been dealing with the same issue now for over 6 months!! I've contacted ebay NUMEROUS times and have been told they will issue a report and correct the issue, however nothing has been corrected. I actually spoke to someone today because my auction listings were re-listed with a "best offer option." Another thing to look out for, the shipping. My shipping charges are also being changed with ebay's "suggested shipping."
