eBay Shopify App Discontinued

FYI for anyone who uses Shopify and eBay - the eBay Shopify app will be discontinued at the end of the year.

"The app will no longer be accessible after December 31, 2022. To continue managing your eBay listings through Shopify after that date, you will need to migrate to a third party app. Of course you can always manage your listings on the eBay website directly at any time."

This is beyond disappointing. Like so many others I have invested thousands of hours into both my Shopify online store and the Shopify ebay app.

I am pretty disappointed as well. I moved from Shift4Shop to Shopify about a year ago and had assessed like for like features. Although the Shopify eBay app is clunky, it at least synchronises inventory between the 2 which is a huge headache otherwise. Now to invest more time and money on replacing or simply not selling on eBay in future if it is too much hassle.

What will happen to all the listings that were sent from Shopify which can't be edited on Ebay??

Can you manage your listings manually? Now if you try and modify images, titles it will tell you to make changes in the app that created the listing

This is pretty unfortunate, especially for Sellers who are dependent on this app.

If anyone needs to switch quickly, I'd highly recommend CedCommerce's Ebay App (https://apps.shopify.com/ebay-integration). We have been using them for almost two years now and they have been phenomenal since the first day we installed it. The CED Commerce team is on the ball and has been there every step of the way. We tried using the Shopify Ebay integration, and were unable to connect the two. After reaching out to Shopify support and EBay support and never hearing back from either of them on how to resolve our issue (which only involved connecting our eBay account to the application), we decided to look elsewhere. This was a blessing in disguise. We are so happy with the CED Commerce eBay integration and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to sell on eBay from Shopify.

I have been impressed with Codisto as we transfer to a new app. We linked our Ebay listings to Shopify quickly and somewhat painlessly with the exception of variations not coming over at the same sales price. The customer service is very good at Codisto. I am working on getting Amazon and Google listings moved over too but we need to include Asin, UPC info into Shopify to link listings on those marketplaces.  Just an update from a seller who liked the app soon to be retired and was able to manually tweak it to get a pretty decent app especially for free.

This is super disappointing. If its becoming costly to operate this service then charge for it. I would be willing to pay a extra $30 a month to keep this functionality. Is the app clunky, yes, but it works. Honestly at this point I have no reason to even sell on Ebay if this app is discontinued. 

I really hope they at least extend the date further into 2023.

For years this app has been quirky, sometimes working, sometimes not.

Then over the summer of 2022, it suddenly worked very well with no major issues at all. Life was good.

Then in October, they announced that they were discontinuing the Shopify App. That seems to be par for the eBay course over the past 25 years.

Our eggs are in the Shopify basket, controlling our entire inventory and sales in multiple places. We simply do not have the time to manage multiple inventories.

It was nice to have a few extra sales on occasion, but our eBay store will be closing, and eBay will solely be used for the liquidation of old stock.

One of the other ebayers tipped me off that Shopify has their own marketplace and app called "Shop"

I spent some time with app, it does not have stellar ratings but that being said.....it's FREE and there are no seller fees. It exists strictly to promote Shopify small business stores.

Since Ebay and Amazon are no longer playing nice with Shopify.....I can certainly see some effort being put into a SHopify "Super Mall" where you pay 6% of sales and then Shopify dumps a load of advertising into Google / Social Media / TV ads.

That would make it interesting for sure

Did you get the answer?  I am having issue editing listing on ebay because Shopify published all my listing using the Ebay Sales Channel and now I can't make edit directly on Ebay.

Well, this sucks.  Looks like it's time to pull out of eBay, not looking to pay for a third-party service to use to list.  Come on eBay, stop making it difficult to sell on your site.
