eBay Removed "Resolve a Problem" Option

I've been selling on eBay for 22 years. In the last six months, I've had a number of auctions go unpaid. I used to be able to open a case or choose "resolve a problem," but that option is gone. Ebay now makes it easy for buyers to just walk away from an auction if they change their mind. I'm then forced to re-list, losing time and money in the process. I've contacted eBay and they don't seem to care. But then again, I'm getting an offshore guy named "Donnie" or "Ron" with a Hindu accent so thick you can cut it with a knife, and all they do is tell me they understand my problem and are working hard to take into consideration. What crap! Nothing gets done. Nothing changes. Sellers just walk away from auctions with no consequences. I'm only selling on eBay as a last resort now. I'll take the FB Marketplace knuckleheads all day instead of dealing with the eBay anymore.

eBay announced a change to the unpaid item process earlier this year- buyers do still get unpaid item strikes if you follow the process. This page explains how it works- https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/resolving-unpaid-items?id=4137

Buyers have four days to pay. If payment has not been made after day four, cancel the transaction for non-payment. This will credit your fees back, give the buyer a non-payment strike and you will be free to relist.  Use the drop down next to the item, or go here:  https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/cancelling-transaction?id=4136

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

The above posters are steering you in the right direction on how to deal with unpaid auctions. Be sure though whatever you do, add those buyers to your "blocked buyers list" because they will return and do the same thing on other auctions listed.

I used to use that option for years and years.I woud go to my item page and look for it

the unamed shortcut was also to click on number of bids

and a dropdown menu would appear with "more options "

basically when you need to cancel for non payment you have to do it from the longest order page you can find.then its simple when you have a dozen options or so

the UPI prcess or NPB is a thing of the past.its ended and been replaced with the 4 day cancel option .

the old method had 2 steps.the new method is 1 step

the resolution center is also gone.it has a ghost link at page bottom

the 1 of 15 custom  tiles for orders in seller hub used to have a line that said "number of unpaid items you can file for".............

that is also gone..however the dispute console is back under the large order tab up top

that what I call it even though it just says "requests and  disputes"

on top of that is the return line.there have been many changes to seller hub in the last 90 days

resolve a problem is long gone.many option that did exist have to be done in seler hub now

Not ebay's fault you do not keep up with announcements and updates

As posted, the unpaid items policy changed a long time ago to automatically open unpaid item cases, plus they sent an email message letting us know

I wanted to clear up the FVF thing when canceling.....MP does not charge FVF for unpaid items

if a buyer fails  to pay there is nothing to get back since it was never charged unless you are still using paypal.

if a seller forgets to cancel than they have not paid MP anything  except  an insertion fee of 30 cents maybe

FVF`s are not charged until its paid for................thats the beauty of MP

Very true, I stand corrected 😁

It is not an automatic process unless-

- The seller enables the automatic setting

- The seller previously had the UPI Assistant turned on

If neither of those actions happened then the process is manual.

The exception would be ad fees for an item that sold through Promoted Listings Standard. An order cancellation would get the ad fees credited.

US sellers could open UIDs in 48 hours.

This has changed to 96 hours and is automatic.

Seller UIDs took 96 hours to close.

The new automatic cancellations are immediate.

So.

The Unpaid transaction now closes in 96 hours instead of 144 hours (four days instead of six).

Feel better now?
