eBay May Seller Event May 28 -June 2 / Code SPLASH15

This seemed like a great idea when I received the invitation. I just saw the very long list of sellers (687 of them) that are participating so, I am in very good company. Anybody know if this is a truly good opportunity?

The questions I have are the following:

1. They say my business will grow as a result. Are they hyper promoting our items? Promoting the sale off site?

2. Can I send out offers without them being combined with the 15% discount?

3. Are listing fees being drawn from the full-price, or the discounted price?

4. What is the intention behind these invitation only events?

I appreciate my co-sellers and eBays opinions on this topic.

I don't know the exact number of sellers eBay has, but even 687 out of one million seems a bit on the LOW side.   I do realize if was by invitation only we don't know how many invites they sent out.  Ten thousand?  Seven hundred?

I'll have to keep an eye on this as my wife did get the email for this and signed up. Hopefully it is not any kind of funny business with the calculations.

I have been corresponding with the people in charge of this promotion via this email:

Throughout the process, I was very polite and appreciative of the opportunity eBay gives me to follow my passion and bring in an income almost effortlessly.

Here is what they said:

Hello,

1. Unfortunately, there is no view on which items used the coupon. Once we charge your account for what you owe, you can make a request for the list of items that sold with the coupon.
2. Unfortunately, there is no list with sales with or without the coupon.
3. Coupon will work on Best Offer. I would recommend turning Best Offer off or Decline the offer if you do not wish to give the buyer the additional discount.
4. There will be no email sent. The coupon code will be visible on the view item page and at checkout.

My reply:

I am talking about the send offer option on mobile devices. They last for about 48 hours and I have sent several out over the past two days. I have not sent any out since the sale started. If you intend to take 15% additional off those offers that I sent out that would cause me to actually lose money on my sales.

I am hoping that talking to you about this will help set parameters for this sort of offer in the future. Also, not having the option to watch what the coupon is doing under my promotions tab is problematic for me. And under actual sales, not having the information that the item was sold using coupon splash15 is also problematic. It makes me feel as if you will be taking 15% off anything I sell over the next week. If this is the case, I would really appreciate being removed from the promotion. 

I love eBay and am completely grateful for the platform. It allows me to follow my passion and make money doing so. eBay is awesome and I tell all my friends that it is. I just feel that this promotion is potentially not thought all the way out to the finish line.

Thank you for the feedback. Will take your feedback into consideration for future promotions. I will submit a request to remove you from the coupon. It will take 1 business day to be removed. You should be removed by tomorrow morning. I will keep you posted.

As of this morning and all my listings have been removed from the promotion. I made a list of everything I sold yesterday with the amount that I owe eBay. I hope this helps!

I'm one of the 687 that am participating in this offer and today my sales have been horrible so far.  So currently it's doing the opposite, lol.

I signed up for this promotion and sure enough, as soon as it got into effect, my sales skyrocketed. I have the same concern though; I don't know which sales are using coupon and which aren't but I'm going to assume all of them are using it. When they do the bulk charge, I better hope they have a detailed explanation of their math

I just got hit with a $1300 charge for this special invite only event overnight 👍

There was a charge on my payments page this morning with the header "Debit for SPLASH15 Seller Funded Coupon". Not recognizing what it was about, I contacted eBay customer help to inquire and found out it was for a coupon promotion I may have joined by accident and for which I could find no record in my account, nor if any sales resulted from it. I find eBay campaigns difficult to understand and not clear about what the costs to the sellers may be.

@lambermontois, you were part of the event, but I don't know if there's any way to confirm that any of your sales involved this coupon.
