I dont understand what is happening, I am down 42% on sales, page views etc. etc. I can barely make ends meet these last few weeks. I dont' know what do do.
I know the economy isn't great but there has to be a reason for the sudden drop.
Anyone else seeing it? Is it ebay? why arent my items getting seen?????
Thanks for your input

I think your biggest problem is shipping charges.
$14 to ship a card?

Canada Post is expensive when it comes to tracking. I have to pay almost $10 Cdn just to send a bubble mailer to the US & that is w/o tracking.

Yes, I noticed that recently.
You need to keep in mind the following forces:
1. Online retailers are going aggressive with early campaigns for holiday season. I sell mostly diecast models and I can see from e-letters I am receiving from online retailers in Europe, US, and Asia Pacific that early campaigns are common with some extending it for additional days.
2. Check competitors on eBay all times. It happens that when you list an item that you set a competitive price but someone else come and list the same item at lower price causing demand / traffic to shift from your listings/store
Beyond that I am personally evaluating the impact of few policies revision by eBay on the traffic. These are:
1. Buyer must enter payment method before making a bid/best offer
2. The price suggestion offered by the site to buyers when making a best offer.
3. New policies revision introduced by eBay: for international shipping rating and to be launched the service standard policy. At face value, IMHO, these are damaging policies revisions and potentially my affect how the algorithm will be showing listing in such extremely crowded space.

The reality of it is that the working classes are getting hammered by stagflation: corporate-greed-driven inflation coupled with rising interest rates, which makes it harder for people and small businesses to borrow money. The Fed is going to keep raising interest rates because the "experts" think "the economy is doing great," which it is, for the very rich.
This holiday season will be the worst ever for most of us, that is unless you're lowering your prices to ridiculous levels, which is what I'm going to do in a week or so on some of my stuff.
I think we'll see a burst in the next week or so, but other than that it will be absolutely awful. Don't feel bad about anything you're doing. The only strategy available for long-time sellers is lowering prices, that's it. Mark this post and see if I'm proven wrong by December 26th. I won't be.

@sakic92710
EBay and Canada Post have had a special promotion on Tracked Packet USA for a couple of months.
The discount is about 53%.
I had a package today that would normally cost about $16 to ship Tracked which "only" cost $7.80.
The promotion ends December 31.
You have to keep up. This has been discussed extensively on the Canada Seller Board.

You're 100 percent correct! I've been here since 2005, this is by far the worst it has been for my sales.

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately, I have no way to print out labels for shipping. The online service isn't of help to me.

I also wanted to add to this that one thing you *definitely* want to do now, if you have an eBay store with more free listings than you know what to do with: end a bunch of stuff and relist it as SELL SIMILAR every day. I have around 1700 items and am ending-and-relisting 200 items (as Sell Similar) every other day and will increase it as the holiday approaches.
Why to do it: It gives your items new Item numbers, which gets rid of the stale factor. It's basically been reliable as clockwork. Lower some prices while you're at it.
That technique was being used a couple of years ago by eBay's CS reps, who could end and Sell Similar on 500 items at a time. Might take a couple days for the listings to reach Google, but it seriously helps, I'm telling ya.

We didn't have record high inflation in 2008 and contrary to your statements, the economy is absolutely in the dumps right now. Every major retailer has resulted to mass layoffs this past year. Amazon alone laid off tens of thousands of workers this past year.
Everyone I know has lost their jobs over the past several months, including my entire family. I've been looking for work since July and have yet to find anything.
The people who still do have jobs are seeing their pay/hours cut across the board. You'd be hard pressed to find anything that's not part time right now.
2 years ago I was earning over $1,000 a week working in restaurants, by the beginning of this year my income had dropped to a lousy $2,000 a month, and today its zero!
I seriously doubt people who's incomes were cut in half, or literally to nothing, are looking to shop online right now.

Your just full of great wisdom arent you?

Cause your not giving more of your profits to ebay via promoted listings. The search engine pushes them first then scatters relevant listings with more irrelevant listings. Buyers get irritated when their search pulls up items they are NOT looking for.
