I dont understand what is happening, I am down 42% on sales, page views etc. etc. I can barely make ends meet these last few weeks. I dont' know what do do.
I know the economy isn't great but there has to be a reason for the sudden drop.
Anyone else seeing it? Is it ebay? why arent my items getting seen?????
Thanks for your input

I totally agree with you. That sums up the problem in my opinion.

@jsna-76 you are moving a lot of product. Sales are expected to be up and down. This is retail.
Every month will not be the same.
As another poster mentioned, moving forward, you have to curtail the amount of neg feedback you are receiving. 95% rating is not inviting.
Best of luck moving into 2024.

An inherent problem with posts like this is that sellers who are showing an increase in sales (yes, they do exist) are reluctant to respond because it could sound like bragging, and/or salt in an open wound.
So, essentially, posts like this reinforce the perception that everyone is struggling. Yes, some sellers are having problems, but not all of them.
A lucky mix of in demand products might be one explanation, a larger inventory which generates a larger total number of views to the seller's store thereby increasing the likelihood that something will sell, and a confidence building higher feedback percentage which in turn reduces the anticipation of ultimate disappointment. It may be tacky to say it during dire times but those are things the individual sellers are capable of addressing on their own. The fault is not in the stars.
What a great reply!

I have to be honest, considering your feedback (6 neutrals and 9 negatives in one year) I would have a hard time buying anything from you.

Wow - You have over 11,000 items listed and 38 feedback in the last month and you are bragging like you got it all figured out - If I had to contend with the amount of time, effort and money it takes JUST to simply maintain 11,000 items: including storing items, storage cost, locating, answering questions, promoting, refreshing, revising, dealing with item specifics, site glitches, ebay store maintenance, ebay store cost, etc, etc and only had a 1% monthly sell through rate?? I would burn my stock and get a real job...

It is not like the old days on Ebay.
Far fewer people spend their lives buying here.
There are many items which people do not buy used, even though times are tougher than they were not that long ago.
And more people get brand new Chinese goods, delivered in a day from Amazon with easy returns.
If money is short, the risk is lower to buy from Amazon and if you do not like it, drop at Kohl's or Whole Foods and get a quick refund, so you can buy something else. And not risk a cranky Ebay seller who believes any buyer who wants a return is a scammer. And a slower Ebay returns and refund procedure.
A lot of buyers who haven't bought on Ebay recently, still think of it as an auction site, and having to deal with a 7 day auction and not necessarily concluding a sale when the auction is over. So they stay away from Ebay.
Everything can be working properly and you can be getting no traffic on your listings some days.
For many sellers, it is essential to offer your products on multiple marketplaces, but some of the same issues apply on other marketplaces. Used is not only unattractive, it may be banned, Some will not allow you to list branded product unless you are buying wholesale from the manufacturer or their authorized distributor.
And your brand new merchandise may be picked over with only the stuff which belongs on the clearance shelf still available.
I can go into thrift shops every few months and see the same stuff on the shelf as a previous business and see only stale merchandise.
Goodwill in our area is discounting some merchandise 50% one day a week and running bag sales another.
The past few weeks they are offering an additional day of 30% or 50% on donated merchandise.
They have so much coming in that they have reduced the donation hours. A lot of that donated merchandise shows up on online marketplaces competing with sellers like you.
Its been a long time since the last round of hard times. Some of us were around to see them, others are too young. They manifest themselves in many different ways. Some of us are affected more than others. Some of us want to deny there is a problem.
I see the effects on my sales by seeing more peaks and valleys, but my profits are not needed to put food on the table.
When I actually had to deal with peaks and valleys in the past, I increased the number of listings I had, and increased the sites I sold on.

I strongly disagree with your assumption that it's the OP's items. The economy is robust right now, especially retail. Like most sellers, the OP's issue is the direct result of eBay no longer being driven by GMV and has everything to do with now being driven by ads. Another words, despite an anemic holiday ad budget (in comparison to other marketplaces), and despite the continuous drop in overall sales, buyers and now sellers, eBay can still increase their net revenues with Promoted Listings. This is especially true when sellers start to panic when sales are abnormally low and then continue to increase their ad rates, hoping that it results in more sales. EBay can't stop the GMV bleeding, nor can it slow down the dominance of marketplace competition. Therefore, in order to maintain net revenues for shareholders, PL was born. Genius!
My advice for every seller is to keep their expectations and their ad budgets low in order to protect your net profits, and diversify!

Some ebay youtubers have done some tests, and one has based on those tests, stated that as the algorithm is now, a newly listed item gets roughly 3 days of visibility to sell, and if it doesn't sell then, its visibility drops significantly. As time goes on it drops further. But 3 days seems to be when it really changes for the worse.

I don't see richard bragging, and besides, he's done well enough here for years.
You sold here long enough to know that FB received and even what ebay shows as 'solds' don't show the full picture, especially on MQ and Variation listings.

While I strongly disagree with your theory, it is very refreshing to hear someone call ebay "genius" instead of myriad of other bad words. 😉

I'm very glad you seem to have steady sales. I wish that for everyone. My only question is - you do mention, frequently, about having items that are in demand but do you really feel yours are "in demand" ? Just a friendly question. lol I don't think they are but you do fairly well. 🙂 If I listed baseball caps, they would sit & sit & sit. I have very little luck with shirts. I have a rare trucker's cap that barely gets any views. I've tried lanyards with no success. Just sayin' Cheers, my friend!

So how much does it cost to get them relisted for so many items?

I don't really think my items are "in demand" but I have such a wide variety of junk that if whatever happens to be selling well at the time makes up for whatever is not selling well at the time. I also have my share of "flops" or items that are not selling or have sat a long time without selling.
If the sellers who come here complaining about slow sales were selling the exact same things as those sellers who are experiencing good sales, they wouldn't be having slow sales. My crazy theory: It's all about what you're selling and how badly people want to buy it.
If you're selling vintage belt buckles and sales are slow, you might want to consider selling something else.

It frustrates the hell out of me that I have a good variety of items with very little competition & barely get any sales now. Never had that difficulty for my first 20 years on here.

Your items probably are being seen.. Unfortunately, your feedback is probably being seen as well.
