convert INR request to return?

I have a buyer who open a INR request 5/9/22 on a item that was delivered 3 days after the purchase but to a neighbor, after they found it they claim because it got there to late they want a refund.

I have told them 2 times that they need to return the item for a refund.

I have free returns but I am thinking that when they opened the INR case and never closed it that the "return this item" is not there because why would you need to return a item that you say that you do not have?

Can anyone confirm if the buyer closes the INR will the "return this item" become available.

The return button is always available so it does not get deactivated if an INR case is opened
so yes the buyer can hit the return button if they lose a INR case.

Also any package that arrives late automatically qualifiers for an SNAD return if the buyer
wants to use that for a reason to return something.

Re: convert INR request to return?

Just let INR expire and don't escalate.

I had same situation happen and did not bother with buyers tantrum.

The tracking shows delivered 2 days after purchase, they ordered on 5/4, shipped 5/4, delivered 5/6, INR opened 5/9, verified that they found it on 5/11.

They keep wanting a refund but do not appear interested in returning it.

They have to return the item if they want a refund.  They do not get it for free.

Customers can file a SNAD/INAD after filing an INR, as discussed in the thread  linked below, including posts by a Community Team member. The circumstances of the transaction are different; however, the OP in the thread below had filed an INR and now needs to open a SNAD/INAD return, so the crux of the issue is the same.

2 items purchased, seller sent only 1. Case closed by Ebay. Seller is not responding. What's next?

I would just ignore it unless they open a case.

Keep an eye on the time period the eBay Money back guarantee ends in 30 days

but eBay will let any buyer hit the return button for a full 60 days knowing full well

that if the 30 days are up then the buyer cant ask eBay to step in to settle the case.

As explained, customers can file a SNAD/INAD after filing an INR.

As far as the "buyers [sic] tantrum" is concerned, a late delivery is indeed grounds for filing a SNAD/INAD, so that buyer's tantrum is in line with eBay's Money Back Guarantee policy.

Sellers also need to keep in mind--always--that the customer can also seek reimbursement from PayPal and/or a credit card issuer. That'll cost a seller an extra $20.

How did I guess this one?

Yes, Actually I have no problem with taking the return as it is a item that is hard to find right now because of supply chain issues and I can get more for it than I sold it for the last time. I just do not want to give it to the buyer

If the INR is still open enter the tracking that shows it was delivered:

if you have entered it and the time has passed: escalate it.  Get it closed: and then see what the user does.
