Ebay shows buyer already paid the item, but I got a message(within few mins after the item is sold) from a stranger buyer telling me to change to another shipping address. Bote (buyer and the stranger buyer account) are new to ebay, no purchase history. I messaged to the buyer and wanted to confirm shipping address. Buyer confirmed the address, and it's the one on order. But it's very suspicious considering the fact that it's a new account and no purchase history.
How can I validate it's a real buyer and not scammer? What if I ship the item to the address on the order, and the buyer claim item lost or other reasons that out of my control? Has anyone had any experience before? Please help!

This is for the $899 drone? You know you have to use signature confirmation for all items sold for $750 or more? There is really no way to prevent all scams, being that you are a newbie seller, you are a scam magnet, selling such an expensive item. Ship only to the buyers confirmed address, and get insurance.

Scammers will attempt to get "New" sellers to fall for their "Change of Address" scam, hoping that they will ship to the scammers address. Ship to the address that shows up after the payment is made. It's not unusual for someone to search for a product, find yours, and create an account to buy it.

It's a scam!
The proper address will come from eBay or PayPal.
Remember, if this has actually been paid for you will need to send it with Signature Required because of the value.

Just to clarify, the person who contacted you about changing the address is probably NOT the real buyer, just someone trolling the sold listings and looking for higher value items and new sellers. Perfect combo for scammers.

Never change the shipping address from the one on the Pay Pal account. They have to show that they have other authorized addresses in that account that they can ship to for relatives/friends etc. Always if you are in doubt call PP and find out if they have other shipping addresses approved in that account. You can cancel this transaction now for reason, “wrong address”, and do not cancel it using any other reason or you Will get a defect from Ebay. If it were me with such an expensive item with them trying to pull the ship to another address, I would cancel and block this user.

So you mean the real buyer (person who made payment on this order) is REAL, but the one who messaged me is scam? Is it possible that the “real” buyer has two accounts and this buyer is also the one who messaged me to change address?

That buyer who made the payment, just opened the account few days ago, and no history. Do you think it’s a real buyer?

Could have 2 accounts, or could be two people working a scam.

It is most likely someone trolling high-priced listings sold by new sellers but it could be the original buyer, or accomplice, asking you to ship to a different address. The buyer could then claim INR, get a refund, pick up drone at other address.
(Yes, I know we've been told that if there is a request in messages to change an address ebay will "have our backs" but I'll believe that when I see it. No way do I chance it for $899.)
Edit: Slow Typist's Corner for me; sellbuy beat me to it.
