Hi, better to do a brand new listing. I was told the newer the listing and not shown as a relist, the more you get viewed in Search. I have a 3rd party listing service, I don't use eBay sell similar or relist anymore. I just change around the title, move the pix around and revise the original description somewhat and put it up as NEW to fool the bots that it is a brand new listing. That is what I have been doing. I do know, if you listed once, then do a regular relist, in some instances if that item sells you get a relist credit. I don't care about a re-list credit if it sells. I have a store so it would not matter. But now with all the ebay changes, how your New item gets seen in search is also questionable. Hopes helps. Am sure other posters will chime in....

Sorry, meant to say if your relist sells then you get some kind of credit.

On one of your comments, you've mentioned -
"And as listings that are re-listed due to no sale, that visibility is even less. That is what those posts referred to. "
Is this really happening? When my items don't sell, I immediately go to the relist button. Never realised that this gave me a disadvantage. Just thought that this was the easiest way to relist.
Would it be better to make a new listing then instead of relisting?
I'd do what's best to make a sale, inconvenient/ time consuming or not.
Generally it has been said that using sell similiar on the listing refreshes it~Cassini thinks it is a new listing. So that is what is usually advised. It is not really any more labor intensive as sell similiar will bring up all the info from the original listing. So it is not as labor intensive as creating an entirely new listing.
There are things you can do to tweak a relisted item, but generally it gets harder to attract views the longer something is listed. That is why many have stopped listing GTC.
Having said that, those who had the item in their Watch List won't see, seller has relisted this item, by it. But they can always search again for it; chances are if they are interested, they will. If not, then they won't.

I am so sorry if I offended you by my post, and I have debated on responding to you either by PM or through a post~we are a lot alike, it seems!
First off, the word "struggles" was referring to your ending paragraph on sales and listing a jacket because you needed the money. I was commiserating with you on that.
No, not your fault. You had a valid point there about a glitch, but that did not negate the fact that just a few listings will be hard to get visibility. Yes, only two posted that, Emerald and I, but that does not make it wrong. Multiples is more than one, so multiples qualifies here. One post would be a single post.
But therein lies the rub. You believe the OP would ask for direction if they wanted it. Many times, the OP looks at a symptom and wants direction with that, but does not see the underlying issue that may be causing the symptom.
I can't answer for Em, in fact, I should not have done so earlier, and I regret doing so. My apologies to you. But I can say, I in no way was demeaning the seller. Just the thought that a few more listings, the more, the better, would help. That is all.
Thank you for sharing your perspective.

Thx for replying back. That jacket sale happened in 2002. BUT...it saved me. lol.
I just wish posters would do their homework before assuming the OP wants more info and they are could be treated like a newbie. The way the 2 replies were worded just made me sad. It could have been me. But, if it had been me.. you would have gotten a blast lolol to "keep your nose out of my business, I only was alerting the forum there is a problem." Am not hiding behind the scenes like I have for the past 10 years lolol.
And, after looking at the OPs other request, looks like no one got back to them re: their question about merchant accounts. Who knows, maybe someone answered them on another of these Forums, but I don't see it. Don't think the different forums are linked. And who knows? Once the OP gets back online they will contact you and EM and say, thanks for the info lolol.
Again, thanks for your reply.

May I point out that the OP is less than specific. You are assuming that it was an alert; whereas others have interpreted it as the OP coming to the Board with a question regarding the fact that his views stopped.
Feel free to answer any unanswered posts you see.
You're welcome.
Thanks for the warning.

It's somewhat puzzling. It stands to reason that just a few listings are going to have a hard time attracting views, and I think it is an important perpspective for those who only have a few listings to have. Yet somehow that is an unacceptable thought. Oh well.

And with all due respect, hopefully you would have made it clear that you were just alerting people if you posted it, and hopefully you would not blast someone without knowing the facts. In any case, even if it was just an alert, most likely others would investigate your listings to see if there were reasons there that would affect visibility, just as it happened on this thread. That IS doing your homework and looking at the individual situation and not the glitch that may or may not be affecting the true situation.
So refreshing to see another poster, and I look forward to reading all the help you will be providing. Sadly you will find it quite common for posters to be attacked no matter what they say. Sometimes people can be very judgemental about things that are not even there, but you will find that to be true soon. Reading things into things is common. Some can't take the unvarnished truth. Just the way of the world. Thank you.

Gosh, I thought we finished our replies. But thanks for replying again and your support. Got a lot to do here today. Getting used to being home full time. Trying to keep a pretty strict daily schedule rather than piddling around like a sloth. Thanks again!

Just wanted to provide some perspective on how posters can be attacked for no reason, since you are now posting and helping, too! As a lurker, that may not have been apparent to you, but something you will surely find out quickly, LOL!
Hopefully you won't let it discourage you; while everyone is entitled to their opinion, it doesn't mean they are all valid. Perceptions may be wrong.
No response necessary!

I have had zero view on over 70 items on my eBay account for over three weeks. I have called eBay customer service three times and get the same answer that they are working on it. I don't think it's right to be derogatory towards people who are having a serious problem and trying to find answers.

This glitch dates back to 2013, I read a post where someone posted the same issue regarding no views. This is an on going issue. I have noticed it happening every day this week. Terrible I am thinking canceling my account on eBay and find a better selling platform. I think eBay service is not what it used to be can't make any sales.
06-22-2018 09:01 PM
Huh? no one was blaming ebay for not selling something or trying to get rich? The issue was it is ANOTHER eBay glitch whereas views and watcher info suddenly disappeared. What mirror are you talking about? They only asked the question, no views starting June 3 which is when the no view/watcher thing started. Geesh. I don't think someone who has 5 items listed is trying to get rich on eBay.
No, I have a real problem with posters who give their opinion over and above what the OP asks and in a very negative way that would make them feel less of a seller. That is how I read the replies. I have lurked here since 2001, before Lithium, too afraid to even comment or ask a question since then it was more than toxic. Had to PM reasonable old time sellers (that are still here) to get my questions asked/answered behind the scenes I was so petrified I would be blasted to kingdom come. abfavintage - to Emerald - unquote --------------------------------------------------
Agreed - I've taken note of the same things you have . There is almost a passive aggressive approach some posters take here . In the pretense of giving helpful advice they seem to want to actually chase away competition . tulips
