YOUR SINGLE BEST SALE/FIND/PICK OF 2017!

What was: YOUR SINGLE BEST SALE/FIND/PICK OF 2017!

Mine was a set of mirrors that has been sitting in my garage for quite some time,   I almost forgot about them.  It was a great feeling waking up to see they had sold.    I hope 2018 brings lots more great sales.

Happy New Years!!!!!!

My best find?  I found some socks that Costco sells for $4 and I'm dropshipping them here on Ebay for $8.  Shhh!  Don't tell anyone, they might get mad.  I'm gonna be rich!

O. P. & Co No 6 Cast Iron Bean Pot ... circa 1865-1870 ... footed with bale handle.   For some reason, at the time, THAT size was selling as high as $ 280 - $ 340 max on eBay ... mine went ballistic and a collector purchased it ...

During one of my major moves I had to leave at least 5k behind once the semi was stuffed and cars stuffed and furniture tied to the roof of the cars.

I left behind one of those bean pots with a live fica tree growing in it in the living room. I don't regret it though 🙂

... hmmm, where'd you leave it? (hee hee hee)

Whops, I should have blown up that pic. I don't have any of Mr. C's candles, but I do love the beeswax honeycomb style.

It's funny that now sometimes I buy things I donated or threw away myself in past years 🙂

It's been...15 years, do you think they'll give it back if I bang on the door?

Lots of "house warming" presents for those buyers!

Its worth a try ... and if they have one of those nice brass eagle door knockers ... well, you know (hee hee).  JUST KIDDING!  The funniest sale(s) I had this year was when we replaced our Microwave ... locally you can NOT put appliances out for the trash pick up ... OH NO!  You have to take them to the recycle place and PAY to have them recycled!   ERRRNT!

I took the old unit apart (completely) and sold 1/2 dozen components on eBay for a nice little "discount" off the new unit!  Little motors, door switches, the door, the glass turn table, etc.  What was left was simply a pile of metal and plastic parts ... NOT an appliance, so in the trash they went!  I'm a lot smarter than I look!  (LOL!)

That is funny! Won't the local metal recyclers stop by in their pickup trucks and take things like microwaves? Here these guys come around regularly. Doesn't look like fun work, but, better than a landfill.

Actually...now that you mentioned it...the brass knocker I left on the door of that house was a lion head with a ring through it's mouth!

15 years ago I collected some stuff, not too enthusiastically, and that was right before I started selling antiques. So giving it away was no big deal to me.

I have that too, runs in the family. We call it AFS.............as in Any Flat Surface (gathers bleep)

In 1985 I went back to school, found a place in an old 3 story building built in the early 1900's

Giant claw foot tub, The Murphy bed swung out of the closet into the living room.

The kitchen was the size of a postage stamp, it had a door where the ice man could leave ice.

It was full of old people, fire alarms would go off, and I would knock on the door.

"not to worry dear, I just burnt my toast"  well lets open a window, and clear out the smoke.

Then one day in the basement laundry room a couple of the old ladies said.

Have you met the little girl in number 13 ?   The rest is history.

Me and Mrs. monkey have a thing for old buildings.

Aww, heart

Thanks - the bathtub was free(from my parents house and the one I used until I left for the military), the sink with the faucet was 50 bucks, and the barbers backbar was 90 bucks.

Yes, I hit a good auction that day.

Re: YOUR SINGLE BEST SALE/FIND/PICK OF 2017!

My best pick of 2017 was a $5 box listed on the local bookoo site.  There was a box on top I wanted for my box collection.  I was expecting a book-size cardboard box.  When I got there, the box was huge! Filled to over-flowing.  Over 100 items inside!  Some my husband "stole," a couple were trash, but I have already sold $50 out of the box and I have only listed 4 things so far.  That helped cover the three shopping bags of name-brand clothes I got at the same time for $10.  "Lucy, you got a lotta 'splainin to do!"  stopped as soon as I pulled the greek fisherman's hat out of the bag.

There's a faucet just like that in the basement of the farm house I grew up in! My brother lives there. I'll have to remember to tell him not to junk it if he ever has to replace it.

Not a high end jewelry seller, but I picked up a jewelry lot for under $10. at a local flea market, it had 8 Brighton pieces in it, in addition to other signed pieces. The first item sold for $20.00 another for $16.00. I'm pretty pleased with this lot!
