What was: YOUR SINGLE BEST SALE/FIND/PICK OF 2017!

Mine was a set of mirrors that has been sitting in my garage for quite some time,   I almost forgot about them.  It was a great feeling waking up to see they had sold.    I hope 2018 brings lots more great sales.

Happy New Years!!!!!!

The first one that comes to mind - spent $7.50 on a Stetson Whippet fedora hat, sold for $471.

Several things for the house as well.

Best and quickest was HeroQuest mint, mint, mint, complete, board game for $1 at a yearly local church sale.

$235 sale in less than 2 weeks.

Paid for my entire haul from that sale and then some.

Always ends up being gold or silver.

no different this year.

might be over for me in 2018...😢

Finally moved to France.

there are no thrift shops here like in the US.

the Emmaeus stores are expensive.

yardsales non existent.

they are called “vide de grenier” and are more like flea markets.

old furniture goes for real cheap here though.

because no one wants it.

I fear my 2018 finds are going to be very poor..

i aleady miss eBay...

YOUR SINGLE BEST SALE/FIND/PICK OF 2017!

MEMPHIS..

Bought one of the nicest pieces of  clothing I have ever found on  Ebay.   It was a complete  accident.  For various reasons I was just doing some "window shopping"   and I was looking through  some J..Crew  items---no  really  intending to  buy anything.    Suddendly I saw this beautiful  black leather  top,   combined with black merino  wool--sweater jacket.    I have never seen anything quite  like that  before.

I absolutely had to have it!

So I sent  for it.   And it is  exactly  like it  was pictured.  (maybe even better.)

I have already worn it to  a party  I attended  last  week.   And people kept  stopping me--asking where I had  gotten it.  Smiley Happy

My best was a non working fire alarm control panel box that I salvaged (aka cost me nothing), which I flipped for $500; listed as For Parts / Not Working with nothing to even indicate it might work.

Granted, I had to fight for it when the buyer (who runs or works for a fire alarm installation company) tried to force a SNAD return anyway.  Fortunately, the CSR agreed my listing was bullet proof and found in my favor.  Never heard another peep from that buyer again, and no followup trips to the pig trough either via PP and Chargeback.  I'm sure his company is just using it as a tax write off now.

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.

Mine was a vintage coat that sold for $249 - I don't remember what I paid for it, but I do know that I did not turn my back on it a second.  I had it listed on FB several times, but I think because it did not have the coveted "Lili Ann" label was why it never sold.  It sold so quick, I thought it was a "sport buyer" and she loves it!  It was a beauty, but I do not think I would have lost enough weight to keep it.

Lovely find congrats, two years ago I walked away from a bunch of Adrian Pearsall and am still kicking myself for being so short sighted.

There was

Couch

Coffee table (same kidney shaped)

2 matching end tables.

3 lamps

all in nice shape and priced at $100 for all.

all I could think was "how can I get it home" (I don't have a truck) and "how can I ship that" and walked away

friend of mine bought it later in the day and listed it here

lady down south bought it for $5500 and sent a U-ship truck to his house the following Sunday.

I was an idiot.

I don't sell high volume or high value most of the time, so my absolute best was an awesome buyer who purchased 3 pieces of gold jewelry from me. These were items I had tried listed on CL and on eBay with BO and been relentlessly lowballed or flaked on (on both platforms). Buyer recognized that the price was fair, didn't haggle, and left great feedback soon after receiving their item. I was super pleased both about the sale and how nice the buyer was - wish all eBay sales went like this.

You weren't an idiot chipper, you just left a little money on the "table" 😄 A major bulk jewelry heist was my best this year, all bought and paid for! Just feels like a heist because it was so so so so so so good and so so so so cheap! 😉

Great to hear ersatz! I don't get much jewelry but I have started to pay better attention to it (I ignored it before). In 2017 I got 1 mens 14K and one 10K ring and one ladies 10K for a grand total of $21 for the 3.

I don't think you were an idiot - I do the same as you . . . I only purchase what I could fit in my vehicle - or even in the house.  I don't have my vehicle anymore so I just leave whatever where they stand.

I've gotten some "happy finds" in my walking travels.  I spotted a 50s buffet set that was on the curb and it had some really nice drawers.  I brought home three (3) of them and made a bed for Ms. Meanie (not that she sleeps in it LOL).  I have some others that I will strip/sand/repair to paint and sell.
