getting ready for taxes

Is there a way for me to get seperate totals for my actual sales income and what I received for shipping, for the year?

The IRS doesn't care how your payments were allocated as selling price vs shipping and handling; to them it's all income.

PayPal produces a handy 2-page "Annual financial Summary" Report that has a line item not only for your total PayPal income but also for total refunds and PayPal fees paid. You can also run PayPal transaction reports on the keyword USPS to get your total postage purchased.

To get your total eBay fees, you need to open your eBay invoices in My eBay > Account tab > Summary. You can open just half of them, since each invoice includes the previous month's total at the top.

PayPal can do this for you, if that is where you receive your payments. You just build a customized report with any of the information you need.

  • Go to: Activity > Completed > Statements > Activity Export
  • Make sure to click Edit Download Fields and include: Shipping Details > Shipping and Handling Amount
  • Click any other fields you want (the Gross and the Fee amounts are included by default)
  • Choose the date range and format, and click Create Report

It may take eBay a few minutes to create the report - they will email you when it is ready. You can then open this report in any spreadsheet (Excel, Oen Office, etc.).
