What was: YOUR SINGLE BEST SALE/FIND/PICK OF 2017!
Mine was a set of mirrors that has been sitting in my garage for quite some time, I almost forgot about them. It was a great feeling waking up to see they had sold. I hope 2018 brings lots more great sales.
Happy New Years!!!!!!

Browsed through the 5 or 8 mens sweaters and lo and behold, there in front of my eyes was a vintage Pendleton Dude sweater, size L. Excellent condition. I threw it in my cart and heaped some stuff on top of it and protected it like a slobbering rabid dog. As it so happened, it was 50% off everything day so I got it for 2 dollars and some change. Got home, listed it and some lovely person from California bought it that evening for $175 bucks or so (in that area). But these type of scenarios are few and far between anymore.
I found and then sold 4 of them this year at Salvation Army. The Goodwills around here throw away anything older than 3 years old so I don't hit them up much.

Haven't found any woohoos this year (but then I was on a buying moratorium for about 9 months of it), but it's always possible I have one or two but just haven't gotten around to refinding and listing them from the piles of unlisted "stuff" I have here. Never know what's in there.
The peeps on another of the boards will recall my "pickle guy" I was going to throw up for a few bucks until I researched him.
eta: and I hung onto my original in box Tiny Tears for a couple of years working up the nerve to list her.

Paid $8 for a Department 56 house and then found it normally sells for $1500 - $2000. Just waiting for the right person to view the ad.

I picked up a pair of NWT Michael Kors corduroy pants with MSRP of $109.50 for a quarter. Absolutely nothing wrong with them.
Michael Kors pants are fantastic, I have a pair that has lasted me for over ten years now and they're still as good as new.

I found a heavy duty chain for pulling logs at a local online auction ... I won the lot for $ 24.50 ... a new chain would have cost over $ 150.00. There was another rusty old item in the lot ... two weeks later I cleaned the rusty item up and put it on a 5 day auction starting at $ 29.95 ... it sold for $ 810.00 ...

I think my best find must be the two 4 foot wood shudders I found at a yard sale for 5 dollars . I stuffed them into my little VW bug , took them home and painted them a dark green . They make a fantastic looking headboard for our guest room . 🙂 Tulips

I left some english sterling huge candelabras because they had dents in them, they were $20, umm, the scrap had to be $500...what was I thinking that day? I know better!
I left a Chinese teapot with a mouse on the top that was only $4...
I let another dealer talk me out of a taxidermy pheasant with the tag on its leg...
I sold a Russian sterling punch bowl far too cheaply locally years ago...
I'm sure there's many more, luckily at this moment I can't remember them which is good, less groan or pain! - ersatz -sobriquet unquote ----------------------------------------
My parents tore a beautiful old antigue bathtub with the claw feet out of their house that was built in 1906 and took it straight to the dump . Tulips p.s I cried when I found out.

Winter was coming and I sold a pickup load of stuff to my buddy from my garage so I could have some room to keep my vehicle inside where it could be nice and toasty warm. Cut him a deal $500.00 for a load he is kind of a whiner can't see into the future. His return so far is a little over 4 grand and he is still whining. You can lead a horse to water, but can't make them roll over and play dead..

Back in the 80's there was a redo your bathroom craze, and I would see claw foot tubs in various fields quite often where somebody ditched them not wanting to pay the garbage fees to have them hauled away....

I had bought an antique oak post office interior with the windows, bars, top, bottom, sides, walls, and someone bought it to make into a headboard. I should have asked for a photo when they were done. I bet it came ouf cool.
I also got the door, nice glass, lettering, etc., but it sold to someone else. I figured whoever bought the window for the headboard would buy the door for a closet door(even though the door was about 9 foot high) for a closet door, but they didn't. I thought of using it for a pantry door, but changed my mind.
On the plus side, the 1800's 12 foor oak barbers marble top back bar I bought years ago is in my upstairs bathroom, along with the sink. Came out awesome! The brass faucet is very cool, complete with the section to spray hair when washing. I'd bet I could get 500 just for the faucet.
That, coupled with the clawfoot bathtub I grabbed when my parents remodeled their bathroom, really completes the room. I wanted to use the oak tank for the throne, but it would have been too involved to integrate, so it's in the shop.
Of course, all of this was bought when I could actually move those types of pieces. Now, I only buy them when I have someone to move them for me. My days of lifting such things are over.

If they are in fields, they are usually bought for water troughs for cows and horses. No one should pay to have them hauled away - they will do it for free to scrap. That's why you sell them.
