Won't allow me to list with a blank UPC? Won't forget original value?

Trying to list something. The dialog offers to let me list it without the UPC - but it keeps telling me its wrong - despite being blank. It wont seem to forget the old value.

UPC has an invalid value of "24771012290". Enter a valid value and try again, or you can leave the UPC field blank.

Doesn't seem to be any combination of action to get it to forget this value.

Should I just give up? It's broken?

Have you tried entering N/A?

That works for books without an ISBN. (same field)

That seemed to do the trick. 

You can always count in eBay to get it wrong...how dumb of me to follow the directions!
