Why would a seller completely ignore an open case?

I don't get this.

I have bought 5 times from this person. Last time I had to ask what happened since the only update to shipping was "Departed Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item"

When I asked about it, I received an apology and was told a new one would ship and if they both got there, consider it a gift.....

I got the paint eventually... stupid me bought again.

Same thing. Same message on the tracking. 12 days and nothing has shipped.

I opened a case Friday. Crickets. What chaffes me is that I have to wait until Friday to re order from another site. I can wait for my refund, but I don't need or want 2 of these.

How many of these where a case is ignored until eBay removes them?

because they're not getting "open case" messages from ebay. i've had 3 returns in the last week - first one i didn't hear about until the returned item showed up in my mailbox - i immediately sent full refund. second one i didn't hear about until ebay closed the case in the buyers favor because i hadn't responded. 3rd one i didn't know about until i started trying to figure out wth just happened regarding case #2... and happened to see the "open case" . since this new policy has been instated i haven't received ANY warning emails regarding returns. also kind of odd that i get as many sudden returns in the last week as i have all year.

When I see the terms "shipping partner" in USPS tracking, it's always meant either DHL, UPS Mail Innovations or Fedex Smartpost. USPS gets the tracking number ahead of time, but obviously cannot scan it until the package has been received by them.

UPS Sure Post uses USPS to handle the shipment the "last mile" as they call it. UPS drops the package at the nearest USPS office closest to the delivery point and USPS makes the delivery.

I reckon this could be anywhere from 1-4 business days after UPS initially receives the package. That would be their target date since UPS advertises UPS Sure Post as 5 business days max. 1-4 business days would be the date of the first USPS scan.

Depending on the volume the shipper is doing and number of employees, I could see why they don't respond to individual buyer requests and only to eBay case issues. That equates to poor customer service practices, imo.

To answer the OP's original question: How many of these where a case is ignored until eBay removes them?

---  If you are talking about suspending the seller's account, the metrics will tell that story.

USPS shows essentially the same thing.
