Why selling limit is zero for new people?

I am new, only couple day. My selling limit is 0 (zero). I purchased few items paid with PayPal, thought to sell some of my own. It refuse to accept listing, stating I am over my selling limit and that is "0". I tried to search but people said it is maybe PayPal not connected or some similar (those posts are from 2014). I got a PayPal accopunt and it is connected. Do I need to be a buyer for a whle to be able to sell?

I have friends in other states that sell on eBay, they told me they were able to sell from first day. Did some policies changed? I have a DVD collection and hundreds of books to sell and a long list of other things I can come up with.

If anybody would be kind enough to explain......THANK YOU!

Hi @bookshomelove, often times what you describe indicates you have not fully completed the new registration for sellers. You can look into some of the following steps:

  • Link your PayPal account here.
  • Ensure your personal information on file is accurate here.
  • Request a selling limit increase here
  • Contact Customer Service to fully verify your information and have your limits manually reviewed using the Call Us option at the bottom of the selling limit help page linked in the previous bullet.

If you run into any error messages or trouble, be sure to take note of the exact message you receive. Taking a screenshot may be helpful for reference if you are experiencing a technical issue.

@bookshomelove

Been there Done This. Very frustrating procedure. You may end up having to do what I had to last time. Call ebay and get THEM to enter your backup cc or debit card payment method details.

Before I did that it just kept going round in circles getting nowhere.

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

I got the circles. All confirmed from Credit Card to checking account still doesn’t let me sell. I sincerely wonder if I still want to do business with eBay at all. Why they do not have a list to fill out to be able to sell. Why go to half dozen different pages and different links? I have payment set up back up payment set up...all linked and so on.  I am able to purchase but not sell. I find this extremely aggravating. At this point if eBay will change and let me sell I will sell, but I will not be bagging a company to be able to give them a commission. This is absurd.
