Why is my stuff not selling? Very Frustrated

Hi Everyone,

I know this is a very popular question in this forum. I'm still a pretty new seller. Could I please get some constructive feedback from any long time sellers as to why my stuff is selling so slow/if at all/having to bring all prices down to practically nothing where it's not worth the time? I've read through a ton of stuff looking for clear answers. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thank You!

"Got the Ebay email about trying Ebay store for 2 months free, I haven't had a sale in 12 days...Again"

I tried that when I was still selling here...didn't sell a thing. I had a very diverse range of items too, and great prices...comics, SciFi signed 1sts, vintage jewelry, Golden Age children's books, etc, vinyl (sold a bunch to Japan in the 80's) blah blah...2008 hit and my B&M store cratered and so did my sales here.

I think buyers are fearful of 1. a recession 2. the new virus 3. what Trump will do next 4. which country might start a war.

I've been selling here on e bay for several years now , off and on since 1996 and full time for about the last 5 or 6 years . All I can say  to your question  is to try  the  suggestions  the previous posters  gave you . But above all  just keep in mind like  with everything else  in life  we have  good days  and not so good days  when it comes to sales . The best things to do  is keep trying  to improve your listings   and diversify  on the things you sell .  Tulips

Looked at 2 of your card listings - 1 for $11.99 and 1 for $9.99.  Both of these cards have a book value of .25 each.

It’s 10 years since the great recession and by many measures the US economy is still booming. Unemployment is at lows last seen 50 years ago, stock markets, while wobbly, are close to record highs, consumer confidence is high and shoppers keep shopping.  The Guardian report 2020

I think buyers are fearful of 1. a recession 2. the new virus 3. what Trump will do next 4. which country might start a war. moondogblues

The rest of the stats  report the same  results . Anyone can fact check to their heart's content .  People are buying   at an all time high . If not here ,, on other sites  and back again . There is NO recession  predicted  by any  economists  at present . Scare tactics  only work on the misinformed .  Tulips

Thanks Army I appreciate your reply! I've seen such a wide value range on a bunch of collectible items including sports cards. I've got a lot to learn still. What's strange is how identical items can sell for wildly different prices.

Thanks for your reply again Tulips! There is a lot of conflicting info about a lot things online. It can be hard to distinguish what's really true and false.

Re: Why is my stuff not selling? Very Frustrated

It looks like you've received some very helpful feedback about your situation. I'd like to add a few more:

* List things that are in demand. The online market is fickle. I'm always surprised at what sells and what doesn't sell.

* Take clear and multiple pictures. A buyer can better evaluate your item thru pictures. Take all sides, inside out, opened up and closed/zippered. Use a ruler or tape measure to validate dimensions when you take your pictures.

* Take the time to write a detailed "honest" description of tour item.  I add PROS and CONS to most of my descriptions. CONS are any defects, blemished, stains, etc. PROS are the obvious good things about the item.

* Add a short description of your shipping/mailing habits. For instance, I always say I prefer to use USPS. Indicate whether you're selling world-wide or just nationally....to all 50 states or just the lower 48.

* I invite you to look at a couple of my current listings and please, use/copy & paste anything you think would be helpful. Just look for jelibred_drummer

I'm glad. Just keep on doing what you're doing. I started with ebay back in 2002. Sometimes it takes a while, but soon you'll fall into a groove.

I forgot one item. When you create your listing, right after you post it, a window appears that asks if you would like to sell a similar item or if you are done. There is also a link that allows you to save your listing as a template. Click on this and you'll never have to type up an entire listing again. You can just change the info in each field. I've found this hint to be quite a timesaver if I have more than two items to list. You may not need it every time, but it comes in handy when you do.

You're most welcome .  The best way to get an accurate  and complete  account  on the U.S economy  is to read  from as many media sources as you can . Tulips
