Today I was researching completed auctions to determine which price point to list my item. Part of this research for me involves reading the completed auction description of similar items I'd like to sell to do a comparison of condition, included components, features, etc. So today, they apparently changed it so now I can see the list of completed auctions but when I click on the item to try to open the listing I get a "The selected item is no longer available" and instead, it shows an item that's still active and available for purchase. Why? What purpose does this change serve?? This was an invaluable research tool for sellers!
Now if an item sold for $2 and another similar item sold for $100, I have no idea what the differences were to affect the prices because I can't see or read the body of the completed auction. The other problem with this is that if I'm wanting to buy something at, say, a garage sale or local antique auction, to resell on eBay, I don't know what to pay for it now because I can't make appropriate comparisons. Of the things that eBay should change, THIS somebody at eBay determined needed to be changed??? I'm finding myself more and more finding other avenues to sell my stuff because of nonsense like this! If somebody from eBay ends up reading this, for crying out loud, change this back to the way it was! I've included a screenshot as an example of an item that just ended as recently as 5/26 (5 days ago) so this change has nothing to do with the auction ending a long time ago.

The "see details" link is for the active item they're showing, not the completed auction.

Still works for me. @mypalrocco
The image shows one of those new cruddy 'searches' you get clicking a 'suggested' item down the bottom of a listing. Yes?
Try the normal product search way like a buyer, type specific item in search box, when listings come up [thats your competitors listings]... then use filter on left of page titled 'Completed listings'.
Page reloads... Works now?

Product pages will be the default soon enough so it's good to learn how to work with them. Below where your screenshot is cutoff you will see options to "see all preowned listings" or "see all best offer listings". Click on one of those links and it will take you out of the product page into the regular search page. You can then filter by sold or completed and you can remove the applied filters like "used" to see all conditions.

Only one or two give you the option to view the completed auction, by clicking the word "listing" on the top, as seen in this screeshot I took. Other than these exceptions, you can't access the completed auctions as in the first example I showed above.

I wouldn't doubt they will eventually get rid of the sold info. They seem to be phasing out "see sellers other items" with the font so small you can hardly see it. Since Amazon has neither of these, ebay won't want them either.
Sold prices for all things I look up are all over the place. Even for brand new stuff. I guess people just buy the first one they see sometimes? Price doesn't always matter.

I am having the same issue, had an item in my watch page it sold.
The item with picture is still there when I try to display it I get this below
Live listings for items & it won't let me display the sold item

This auction is the only one of the numerous that I clicked that allowed me to view the completed auction to view it, like it has always been.

This is ridiculous. They are going out of their way to make me stop using ebay.

Being able to view sold listings is an invaluable tool for sellers. This camera, for example, varies in price if one comes with a battery and charger and another doesn't. Or if one is scratched and broken and the other is immaculate. By not being able to view the body of the listing to read descriptions, we now have no idea what variations affected the price and therefore, no idea where our price point should be. And no idea what to pay for an item on the private market that we want to resell on eBay. I've been using Facebook local buy/sell groups to sell stuff with great success lately but I still used eBay. This nonsense is going to push me further away from eBay and I'll only use them for items that require a broader audience.

Oh, and lest we forget that eBay is starting to charge insertion fees more frequently again and then recently they've jacked up those insertion fees by 5 cents, from .30 to .35 . When a MULTI-BILLION dollar corporation raises fees by a nickel, I take that as a big middle finger stuck in my face. A nickel. Because times are hard for them and they need more money.

Imagine how fun it's going to be when their Product Page Buy Box thing has buyers purchasing active listings without seeing those differences!
