Why don't my sold listings have the "ship by date" anymore?

Noticed this morning when I go to my sold listings, they just say SHIP NOW.  Instead of how it use to always say what date they needed to be shipped by.

I always liked being able to clearly see when I needed to ship.  Eliminated the guess work.  I have a busy life so can't go to the post office more than once or twice a week.

Mam i just pack and ship the previous days sales right when i wake up ever morning. Sunday morning i do saturdays but take to the post office monday....along with sundays sales. So its print and pack 7 days a week and post office run 6 days a week. Stinks but totally effective.

So its my understanding that once you print label and tracking is uploaded that you havec24 hours for the post office shows arrival or you get a seller performance ding on the tracking uploaded line. One of the lines specifically says something about tracking uploaded and "validated". Validated i believe to mean landed at post office within 24 hours of label printing. I remember a few years back printing a label within minutes of a purchase righ after i got back from my morning post office run. The next day i took the package to the post office at 920am but had printed the label at 912am previous day. Did not show as late shipping but did ding the tracking uploaded on time permance metric.

After reading this post yesterday I noticed the same thing that all my orders said ship now! instead of the usual when I need to ship by. I see now in seller hub under the TASKS section it says need to ship in the next 24 hrs. IDK if that has always been there, but for me I always ship the next business day anyway.

i don't care much for the fact that ebay continually 'breaks' things (upgrade or not) without forewarning selllers.  i agree wholeheartedly that the ship by date is very important.

No, you’re not judged on when you print the label.   If you don’t want to get a late shipment ding the tracking has to show that your package was accepted within your handling time OR show as delivered by the latest estimated delivery date. If you have  1 business day handling and someone purchases Monday morning and your package is accepted by midnight PT on Tuesday, or shows as delivered on time, you will not get a late shipment ding.

The other metric...uploaded and validated is slightly different.  The tracking has to be entered during the handling time and  to be validated by showing at least 1 scan at any point.  So even if the only scan shows delivery, it is considered as being validated.

You work too hard.  While I too ship much like you do, I ship from home.  Carrier pick ups work fantastic for me.  I rarely actually go to the PO.

I think at best, this is a very minor issue. I ship the same way you do, every day. If I sell something today (Friday) it will ship on Saturday. If it does take me until Monday morning, it's still not a problem. I don't need or want eBay to babysit my shipping times. Why would anyone wait to ship something if it is sold and ready. Your customer has given you their money and the sooner they get their trinkets, the better for all involved in the transaction.

many of the 'changes' ebay makes when breaking pages and such and leaving option that have long been used by sellers 'might' be easier if we had advance knowledge of, and understanding of, the intent behind them.  with advance knowledge we could be looking for the results in actual application.  rather than finding bleeped up errors caused by the same with no warning and not even knowing to look for these problems until they cause a problem with an account.

it would help much if ebay's touted "transparency" would take the form of adquate "communication with sellers" rather than 'brush off political answers that tell us nothing.'

@brian.t.@ebay

do you think this is possible and likely to happen?

i believe it is more of an issue of ebay taking away "TOOLS" that sellers do use and find very helpful, for NO reason.   the same way they broke the bulk editing so you can't remove the 'volume' discounts.  you now have to go into each listing individually to remove them ... while they set the end dates of discounts thru 2022.  they also removed the ability to 'end' the discounts on the promotions page, and when you do pause them, if you look a few hours later they are 'unpaused and active' again.

I'm lucky, I live right next door to the post office so can go whenever I need to. But if I didn't I would def consider carrier pick ups.

This is an annoying change to say the least.  It is an enhancement that sets sellers back.  It doesn't help us to run more efficiently.  But it sure creates a little extra work for us on each shipment.

It is my hope that Ebay will reconsider this change and give us back the old format.  We are far more efficient and better off being able to see our ship by dates.  I do respect that Ebay wants us shipping as fast as possible.  But your seller's want this too.  We don't need Ebay making a change like this to inspire us to do better.  Anyone that sells on a regular basis knows that getting shipments out quickly is a smart business process.

This is one of the times I agree with @mam98031  Smiley Happy

Why would eBay not show this much needed information?

Is this another software issue/glitch or was this a planned system update?

@drnickriviera995

Not EVERYTHING is a glitch.  As I explained earlier this is an enhancement.  Please don't try to make this something that it is not.  It doesn't help us to get the proper attention on the matter.

Well, that didn't take long ... back to disagreeing. Smiley Happy

Most glitches are actually due to poor software coding and poorly implanted system integration.

This is not an "enhancement" in any way.  If this was a planned change, this should be called a "degradation."

Since we don't know yet if this was planned or unplanned, it's hard to say what it is, except that it's detrimental to sellers.

You are assuming that it is not displaying as the change in the program had intended.  To me it does not appear to be that at all.  Since you aren't use to using the SH, it may not be a change you would notice.  But for those of us that use it on a regular basis, the page has changed.  So I believe the program is functioning as intended, some of us just don't like it.

It isn't a big deal.  We will bring it to Ebay's attention and hopefully they will return it to what it was before.  This stuff happens off and on and it doesn't have to be an ordeal to get through.

FYI as I stated in my earlier post, there were / are other changes in the screen as well.  It is an update, some good, some I personally don't like.  I can't say it is bad because some seller may very well like it and that isn't a problem.

I don't assume anything.  The cause of this ... problem (if a technical issue) or process change (if intentional), has yet to be identified.

And it is a big deal.

And yes, we (the members here who are concerned about this) are bringing it to eBay's attention ... and we are still waiting for a response.

And I agree with you, "this stuff happens off and on," but eBay makes it an ordeal to get through.  And it is an ordeal for the customers to deal with.

Yes, eBay is like a puzzle ... with many pieces missing. Smiley Surprised

Not as many as you make there out to be.  There are millions of sellers that do just fine on this site.  Yes we have issues far too often.  But few are business ending events.  GTC as a business ending event for some sellers.  That kind of change does not happen often, thank goodness.

Sellers should be able to do great here, not just fine.  They should also want to stay here, and not leave (as many have done or are saying they will soon, if it doesn't get better).

And I do agree with what you said:  "Yes we have issues far too often."

Hi @drnickriviera995, I'll touch base with the related teams to get some more information on this. In the meantime, you can see the estimated delivery date shown to your buyer at checkout when you go to print the label as a reference for when you need to ship.

Portraying an issue as if it is something that is a horrible happening helps no one.  Certainly we need to stay vigilant and inform each other when we see issues that others should know about.  This particular issue is a enhanced version of the SH that some of us don't like.  Certainly not a business ending event.  Just an annoyance we would like Ebay to put back the way it was before the update.

You definition of "great" or "fine" is yours.  I have no idea why your definition would be more accurate than others that choose to use a word that you think isn't good enough.  It doesn't decrease the validity of their opinion or voice.

Yep there are issues.  But there are far more things that work fine/great than those that don't.  Which is likely to be why there are so many active sellers on Ebay.  Every job has it problems.  This one is no different.

Please don't over dramatize this or infer something towards me that isn't true.  If you go back and read everyone's posts, you'll see you're the one with the most concerns.

The definition of "fine" and "great" are actually Merriam-Webster's.  I think "great" is an upgrade from "fine,", but if you don't think so ... that's fineSmiley Happy

I truly hope all of the active sellers can be successful here and be more active selling, and less active dealing with all of the problems.
