Noticed this morning when I go to my sold listings, they just say SHIP NOW. Instead of how it use to always say what date they needed to be shipped by.
I always liked being able to clearly see when I needed to ship. Eliminated the guess work. I have a busy life so can't go to the post office more than once or twice a week.

After reading through this thread, I thought it would be helpful to summarize the main customer concerns here for eBay.
@Anonymous
These are the takeaways for: Why don't my sold listings have the "ship by date" anymore?
This was my favorite:

So have you ever bought something and tracking says delivered but you didn't receive it? If so, I wonder how they could've lost the package during the 40-50 feet transit. lol

Yes, eBay is like a puzzle ... with many pieces missing.
Not as many as you make there out to be. There are millions of sellers that do just fine on this site. Yes we have issues far too often. But few are business ending events. GTC as a business ending event for some sellers. That kind of change does not happen often, thank goodness.
Sellers should be able to do great here, not just fine. They should also want to stay here, and not leave (as many have done or are saying they will soon, if it doesn't get better).
And I do agree with what you said: "Yes we have issues far too often."
Portraying an issue as if it is something that is a horrible happening helps no one. Certainly we need to stay vigilant and inform each other when we see issues that others should know about. This particular issue is a enhanced version of the SH that some of us don't like. Certainly not a business ending event. Just an annoyance we would like Ebay to put back the way it was before the update.
You definition of "great" or "fine" is yours. I have no idea why your definition would be more accurate than others that choose to use a word that you think isn't good enough. It doesn't decrease the validity of their opinion or voice.
Yep there are issues. But there are far more things that work fine/great than those that don't. Which is likely to be why there are so many active sellers on Ebay. Every job has it problems. This one is no different.
Please don't over dramatize this or infer something towards me that isn't true. If you go back and read everyone's posts, you'll see you're the one with the most concerns.

The definition of "fine" and "great" are actually Merriam-Webster's. I think "great" is an upgrade from "fine,", but if you don't think so ... that's fine.
I truly hope all of the active sellers can be successful here and be more active selling, and less active dealing with all of the problems.
Yes, I said all that and IMHO it is all true, so what is your point?? If you prefer to use "great" there is absolutely no issue with that. If I or someone else wants to use the word "fine", there should be no issue with that. It is a silly thing, to say the least, to be concerned about in life.

I always ship as fast as humanly possible. So "ship by" never mattered.
One thing I've noticed that I do like. I am now told the day that the buyer saw as their delivery day estimate. That's helpful. Only, I always choose economy shipping, but I was forced to go with Priority because of that date. It was only about 3 dollars difference, but the sale was small and the shipping was "free." I would have selected FedEx Smart Post except the expected delivery was past the date that eBay estimated for the buyer.

Fair enough point. But when you are coding on the go while millions of listings are ongoing, you are going to have things like this come up. No one can foresee everything.

I like being able to see the buyer's estimated delivery date while I'm selecting shipping options. My only complaint is that even though I offer free economy shipping, I was unable to select FedEx Smart Post because the deliver would have been past the date.
I'll live, though. I get that buyers want their stuff really fast.

GTC has been around for YEARS and most likely used by the majority of sellers [but that is a guess on my part]. Suddenly because GTC is made mandatory for FP listings, it is the cause for all kinds of issues. Odd that never even hinted at happening before.
Don't take me wrong. I firmly believe that for some sellers this was a horrible and costly change for them. I am in no way trying to say that this isn't a VERY important FACT.

There was a point ... it was a simple and good intentioned one:
You wrote: There are millions of sellers that do just fine on this site.
And I wrote: Sellers should be able to do great here, not just fine.
And my point was: Sellers should not be burdened with all of the many problems here, and if they weren't, they would be able to do "great" here, not "just fine."

That's why making unnecessary changes is not a good idea.
And, software and system integration tools (properly used) account for active roll-outs.
Still waiting to find out if this was a change or a glitch? ...

You are assuming it was an "unecessary" change. While I certainly prefer it the way it was, that doesn't mean that others that aren't posting here like it just fine. And BTW as I stated a couple time before. It wasn't the only change made at the same time. But since you don't use the SH, it isn't likely you would notice that one way or the other.

I can only guess about the change/glitch question.
I'll go with change. Here's why:
1. There is an element of the "ship by" date that might encourage a seller to delay. "I've got time." Human procrastination. I'm guessing that eBay receives many buyer complaints about late shipping and late deliveries.
2. The "buyer saw this expected delivery date" on the eBay shipping page, OTOH, encourages a seller to think about expected delivery purchased matching the expected delivery seen by the buyer. It will over time also encourage a seller to ship quickly in order to keep all his options open. I'm not sure they've nailed the dates, as I said before. I shipped immediately with free economy shipping and was unable to select FedEx Smart Post. Still....overall, it makes sense to me.
I've seen quite a few posts of sellers complaining about eBay's guaranteed delivery promise. My other guess is that this was aimed at resolving some of those issues.
