I sold something for $700. $30 shipping
the sum I got from eBay was $617. True buyer paid the shipping. The $30. Now I have to ship the item but from my $617 I have to pay to ship the item. Wasn’t the $30 supposed to cover that? Why do I have to pay shipping from my earnings when the buyer already paid?

Print out all order related pages for a single order as mentioned in the previous email. Be sure click the "Fees based on" when you got to the view for the transaction detail.
Amount YOU pay for shipping is not included in the numbers and needs to come out of the net order proceeds. Study those numbers until you understand where the money is going and what you get.
Re-evaluate the price you charge for your items and the price you charge for Shipping+Handling.
Good Luck!

Payouts can be very confused. When sale is made EBAY immediately deducts (selling fees + shipping) and balance is deposited into your checking account 3-5 AFTER sale. EBAY "holds" shipping money FOR YOU so you will have "funds available" when you print the label.

Regardless on how you want to calculate the remaining balance. You still have to pay for the shipping label. The buyer agreed to pay $30 in shipping.....hopefully, that covers the cost of the shipping label. If you calculated the profit correctly for the item, then the total aggregate total will cover the shipping, fees, & any the cost of good.

I would take some time and sell a few low dollar (easy to ship) items to get a feel for how everything works. Expensive / heavy items like your $700. sale are going to be expensive to ship and cost quite a bit in fees. You have to learn that in order to know what to buy and how much to spend on that item in order to sell with a profit. You can't have much invested or you will lose money. Learning about shipping and the costs for postage takes some time too, so make your mistakes on light weight items.

"And it’s heavy and they don’t live in America so picture how much it’s going to cost."
You might want to rethink limiting the locations you will send to. Especially for heavy things.

What you have invested in the item plays no part in what you sold it for. You are the one that listed it with the price, ultimately this is your problem.
Do you really think those of us who sell regularly lose money on our sales? We wouldn't be here long if we did.

The 'double dipping' title and your op leads others to believe you are using creative bookkeeping, and need to educate yourself on the fees for selling here.

How much did the item cost you?
