Why can't I revise the price on a listing?

I have a listing that started with 4 identical items.  One of them sold.  I want to lower the price for the other three, but eBay won't let me do it, and doesn't give a reason (yeesh it seems that would be SO easy to list the reason right there on in the listing/revision page).

Do I have to cancel the listing and start over?  Thanks...

Is it the router?

You should be able to change the price.

Ebay glitch -or- you're doing something wrong.

I been having the same issue. I think Ebay has changed it to where if an 1 or more of the items were to sell you can't change the price on the listing for the remaining items you have in that listing. You would have to end the listing and relist it with the changed price.  That's how I did it.

Re: Why can't I revise the price on a listing?

Hi @securesales1

While I haven't read the details on how eBay handles that AND if it has been changed it makes sense when you compare it to an auction with a bid or say an item with an outstanding offer.

Now, think of the Buyer who just paid your List price and then they see the very next day that it is a lower price ... I could see them wanting a partial refund down to the NEW price you changed it to.

If I were you I would just leave the price where it is for a while ... I mean someone bought at the list price ...

I have literally hundreds of listings for multiple items where 1 or more have sold.

I am able to change the price on any one of them.

Item #226258318949

The price is $22.

I just lowered it to $21.

Then raised it to $23.

Then put it back to $22.

Re: Why can't I revise the price on a listing?

I just went to one of my multiple quantity listings that items have sold from, and I was able to "reduce" and "increase" the selling price with no restriction on doing so.

Are you sure you don't have offers open on this particular one?

last thread I read about that .............  one of the things that is not restricted is changing the price.

Re: Why can't I revise the price on a listing?

If you recently sent an offer to a watcher that would be why you can't revise the listing. You would need to wait a full 96 hours to be able to revise the listing.
The only other way to be able to change the price would be to end the listing, this will also cause the offer you sent to end as well.

Do I have to cancel the listing and start over? Thanks...

You could have done that and had a new listing up and running in the time it took to ask the question.

The OP might consider other factors a greater loss than time.  If they have watchers (and/or viewers that ebay considers "interested" buyers) the when the OP lowers the price it will send out notifications to those people.  It's a clever way to get a sale which, unlike sending offers, does not create the frustrating auto-pay problem for buyers who don't like that, or give a slowpoke buyer 4 days to pay .... whichever of these 2 scenarios apply to the OP's seller preference setting, regarding offers.

But that's an everyday reality in commerce, at both BAM and online stores.  Lol if only I could claw back all the dollars I would have saved if I'd waited a day or two to buy ......

I could see them wanting a partial refund down to the NEW price you changed it to.

They can want it all they want, doesn't mean they can demand it, and anyway it wouldn't be eBay that they'd try to get it from; it would be the seller.  So why would eBay impose a restriction on the seller for something that would only affect the seller?

Back to what I said before -at a lot of stores, not only are original price-payers not entitled to a refund of the difference when the item goes on sale, but if they return the item they are entitled to receive only the current shelf price, not the original price, even if that's what they paid.   I don't know how stores get away with that but I've definitely encountered it.
