After years of selling, I deleted all of my listings today - including ones with bids. Why? Because EBay accepted a fraudulent return request from one of my buyers, and told me I'd be paying for return shipping and issuing a refund. This despite multiple phone calls and messages from me, and the proof given in e-mails sent from the buyer himself.
I was always honest and prompt as a seller. I always communicated clearly with buyers. My listings were accurately described. And EBay stubbornly refused to take any of that into account, instead choosing to honor a deceptive, flat-out fraudulent return demand. As long as the buyer claims "item not as described," EBay will ignore the facts and rule against the seller. Now my PayPal account has a negative balance in excess of $120. This is my reward for being a straight shooter - and for putting money into EBay's already-fat wallets.
It's a drag, because I made supplemental income this way, and had many pleasant experiences. But I refuse to be robbed as a direct result of corporate greed and apathy towards those who make them money.
EBay is like the phone company was about 40 years ago. They know you have limited options, so they don't care about messing you over. But I'm ready to explore my other options now, as I refuse to sell through EBay anymore.

and yet..as of this minute, YOU are still on ebay selling..ummmmm
not sure of what to think of your convictions?...
FYI: when you list anything ..to sell and make a profit.....YOU realize it could alwyas end up in a case..of any type..right? Knowing that, you then list or not...knowing what could happen..and yes sometimes does....
all business knows there will be shinkage and loss, part of business.....and you use EBAY to sell....you use them for there site...using their rules...so you learning how it works, and how it really works..you understand what risks there are, right?..... and sometimes, yup in this worlfd of online scammers and no-goods, you get burned. we all do, we all have( i say ALL meaning all but the very luckiest ones).
Quiting is easy, making a profit is earned by learning, adapting, and crossing your fingers many times.

You haven't read his descriptions..........which are an explanation of what happened and why he cancelled the listings....
That kind of verbiage is ebay "illegal" so I'm sure at some point someone will report and they will be taken down........

I am pretty much in the same boat now, I recently sold an item that was damaged on shipping that cost me 72 dollars to ship through ups. The buyer asked for a return and sent pictures of the damage and now im out the item and 72 in shipping. So it cost me over 200 dollars , grief and time. This is the 3rd item I have sent out in the last 3 months that have been returned because of an issue with the item after shipped.
I am now about even after all the headache i went through to make a few dollars. Its not worth it to me anymore. I might as well just keep the stuff in the garage or give it away.

There was no insurance on the item? There may have been some insurance coverage automatically included. Third item sent out with issues after being shipped? Just a thought~possibly using more bubble wrap, peanuts, double boxing might help you avoid this.

I did the same thing but tried to find another selling genre, but could not, because even if you don't like eBay's rules and the way they make their customers happy (to come back for more), they're number one for people to shop at there site. But recently, in the last three months, I've noticed a drop in sales, due to new players(selling sites) that are doing the same thing as eBay but with a twist. I once had 4-5k of items in my eBay store until one day an employee decided that everything I had up had to come off and no one at eBay could give me a good reason for his actions, that move took me off eBay for 6 months. There should be but isn't a firm or an agency for the sellers selling anywhere to support us and deal with all the **bleep** we deal with alone, maybe there is a Godfathers smart son who could run it?

I stopped selling on Ebay 10 years ago because of one fraudulent buyer. I was a powerseller who made $1,000-$1500 a week and one bad apple made me avoid this place like the plague. I lost $450 plus the fees and $25 in shipping costs and the buyer laughed at me on the phone when I called her because she had the item (refused to ship it back) and got her money back from Ebay/Paypal. I called the police in her town on her and the police said I would have to travel to her state to file a court claim against her.
The Ebay reps and Paypal told me to chalk it up to the cost of doing business and one rep confided in me that this person had opened lots of cases against other sellers and there was a history of her doing this many times. He was disgusted, with this buyer's behavior, but told me his hands were tied and that he couldn't help me.
I reported the buyer to IC3 and made a claim against Ebay and Paypal with the Better Business Bureau. Shortly after that, Paypal gave me a "one time only courtesy" credit back to my account. I still lost the fees that I paid. Despite the outcome that eventually came in my favor after fighting back, I was not going to let myself fall victim to this dishonesty ever again.
That left such a bad taste in my mouth and had me so enraged that I didn't care If I lost my livelihood on here. I only buy things on Ebay to resell now and sell all of my items on another venue and in a brick and mortar antique mall now. Selling anything of value on here is a **bleep** shoot and it is like a ticking time bomb. Eventually everyone gets burned.

I just did the exact same thing over the exact same policy. Fraudulent buyer who knew he could lie about getting the wrong item. I spent $400 shipping it to him. I sold $30k in last 2 months and paid Ebay $25k in fees.
bye bye Ebay.
I’ll never use this site again.
